Thruster vs The Dumont

Can't make up my mind, both seem so epic. I'm 6'0 and 150 pounds, very good all-around skier and in the early stages of progression for park but I'm looking for a pure park ski so that I can stop raping my PE's, and this is what I'm down to. Price is definitely a factor, if the Dumonts are better but only slightly then it's not worth it for me. Is it worth it to drop the extra 100$ or are the Thrusters gonna do me solid? Thanks!

haha weird i have PEs too and i think ima get dumonts

yea keep checking getoboards.com, they have dumonts (in all sizes i think?) and pretty soon they should have sale, so the dumonts will be about 200 which is a great price. i don't know wether to pick up the dumonts for 200 or wait and blow twice as much on next years suspects. i can't decide....suspects look so ill....but not like $500 ill...

Think I'm gonna go Thrusters... every review I've read has been stellar, I don't think I'ma be disappointed and I'm very poor. I was debating center mount or not, but honestly after talking with some friends I think I'd only do that with a symmetrical ski... I'm pretty damn solid at skiing/landing switch despite my minimal park skills, so unless I get some serious feedback indicating otherwise it's gonna be Thrusters with a regular mount, MAYBE a little forward... we'll see. Advice? Thanks all.

are you going to use these outside the park much? if not then center mount for sure. If you are going to take a fare amount of runs out of the park, then I would say mount -2cm from center but thats just me

Ok, so I've never had a center-mounted ski, or anything but regular mount for that matter, so I have a question: Does center mounting do anything but help you ski/land switch? Because my friend has his center-mounted and he says that it helps you with that and just makes it a pain in the ass to do anything else.

The only thing I'll be doing with it aside from park is jib runs, but those are on regular trails obviously and I will need to turn forward, which he says is a bitch with center-mount. And as I said... I'm enormously comfortable skiing switch even on my regular mounted skis.. On second thought though, some of my jib runs might involve some pretty gnarly switch pow landings which I do have trouble with sometimes so maybe a -2cm or something would be useful... but center sounds like a bit much.

I have my park/all mnt ski (AR6) mounted center and I have had no problems skiing or turning forward. and it does help alot in the park. you will notice how much smoother switch landings are for sure

Hmmm... I'm thinking -2. I realized that even though this is my park ski I'm still gonna need to be able to take it down some pretty steep terrain every so often (our main park is run by a t-bar so if it's down as it often is, we're doing regular runs to hit the park). Also, one of my favorite jib runs is our liftline, and that's ungroomed - in fact it's often covered in moguls, and somewhat steep. Is -2 worth it though? Will I notice a big difference with that?

no you wont unless you will be skiing switch non stop. imo -2 would be great cuz you will have enough tail for switch landins/riding but still have the turning ability that a bit back from center will allow.

so your gonna get last years thrusters? Because if i were you i would get next years skis the suspects or the newer dumonts. I dont think they make thrusters anymore. I didnt see them in the sia update but i bet they still have them

thrusters are being replaced with the suspects. only diff. tho is the suspects are side wall construction hand have edge armor. but you can get thrusters now for half the price of the new suspects.

thrusters are stiffer throughout the ski. Dumonts get softer in the nose and tail. this years thrusters and half wood half isocell. quite a responsive ski. a little better for all mountain and more stable, although less buttery. you can still butter just fine on them, dont worry

Ive had all my skis center mounted and all i hit is 95% park only 5% other when i take a trip out west. And they handled fine in everything. The first week was rough on groomers to get used to it, but then i got used to it i did just as fine with -2 and they slay in the park. My 2 cents

Cool cool, thank you. If the Dumonts are more buttery though... eehh... well if you say they'll do just fine and it's just a minute difference... I think I'll still go with my setup. Yeah.

K the truster is a great park and is pretty wide too so u can shred the powder if u want. the dumont is pretty much the same but not as wide. id go for the thruster. (sicker graphics too.)
