ok, we take phrosty's idea (sorta) and instead of other people rating we use a simple algorithm to compute and participation score (no i didn't get this idea from kazaa, though it would work in a simmilar way) so like the highest could be 100 or 1000 or something and the lowest would be 0 and everyone would start out with 5 or something and then the algorithm would take the total length of time that the user has been a member and the total amount of posts (new threads would count for more maybe?) and then use the average user rating (from phrosty's idea) and some up with their participation score! Wouldn't be that hard to do cause it is all information that is already being collected, except for the user rating part)...

I know I already posted this in the donator's forum but nobody really pays any attention to that stuff and I doubt that a quarter of the members on this site look in there at all and I thought that everybody should get to throw their ideas out there or whatever...

ok, it would work like this:
the longer you've been a member, if you've donated, if you post a lot and if your user rating is good will all make your participation go up.

but also if you haven't been a member very long, you don't post much, you haven't donated and your user rating is horrible than your participation will go down.

It would basically take into account all of the major factors involved with figuring out how involved you are with the site and there wouldn't be as much competition because you could only get to 1000 as opposed to like unlimited

well i like the idea but ppl would still post more to get there rating up so why dont we like divide the number of posts by your member number and give u that score or somthing allong those lines

It'll be based more on how much you contribute to the site rather than the total amount of posts that you have, and if you don't post for like 3 weeks then your score would go down...

See what I'm saying though, cause then it would be more who is a true newschooler rather than the same top 10 guys forever who rarely post anymore...

it might be a good idea but I think that the post count and everything should just be gotten rid of. all that should matter is time as a member. there are already too many dumbasses who have been on here for like a month and have a ton of posts from posting pointless shit. who cares about posts and user ratings

but what happens to the people who only post when they think there is something to say. I've been ehre for over a year, i've donated but i only post when i realy have something to say. Does that mean i would ahve a low rating or whatever.

i really dont like this idea some people that dont have many posts or arnet logged on much or have a very high memeber number contribute a lot but they'd still be marked low for stupid thigs like post count its not exactly a fair way to make out who and who doesnt contribute. etc
