Rant about my parents divorce

    so my parents are getting a divorce and my dad went to the court to get a restraining order on my mom because he thinks shes going to freak out and try to hurt him when she gets the papers because the state of mind shes in from being an alcoholic.

   but when he went to get it the court made it to where she cant see me and my brothers either and we cant even talk to her. It may just be my emotions getting to me but I think its fucking retarded that i cant talk to my mom on the phone and make sure everything is going ok. i dont think its right to take contact with a parent on even the phone away from their kids.

   i guess its cuz ive always been close with my parents and when they would fight i would always be there to protect my mom. I just cant believe this bullshit. my little brothers cant even say goodnight to her n ones 5 n the other is 10 this could ruin a kids life. not meaning me im grown enough to know whats going on (im almost 18. in about a week) but a little kid may take this worse

Just talk to her, if anyone complains you have a pretty solid argument agaisnt them, your dad might have a problem with her but that doesn't mean you do

by chance do you have any friends parents who are lawyers, or a way of getting in contact with someone who can answer your questions? you're totally right, getting your mom in trouble will only make things worse in the long run, so if you can go about things in the right manner NOW, it will help you a ton.
if you are able to meet with someone, explain your situation and also your age. if you act mature and respectful, you'll get treated that way. seems like you're pretty level headed on the issue, realizing that in the least your little sibs should be able to say goodnight and stuff, because you're right-- they don't get it.
is there any way to talk to your dad? get him to talk to him lawyer and lessen the guidelines a bit? doesn't sound like you'll get far with the judge, but if you can have someone else help you, i think it'd be good.
divorces are shitty man, i can't even lie. my parents separated in 3rd grade, and the divorced was finalized in 8th. long effing process and i'm a sophomore in college now-- and shit's still whack.

keep a level head and chin up, looking out for you and your brothers is all you can do right now.
