Do Serial Numbers Go On Receipts?

So I want to buy an Xbox 360 from this guy. The system is only like 6 months old so it's still under warranty. The problem is that he doesn't have the receipt for it so I wouldn't be able to claim the warranty if the xbox were to break. My plan is: buy the xbox 360 from him, and also buy one from best buy. Then I'll take the receipt for the new one, copy it, and return the system to the store (to claim the warranty from microsoft, you need either the receipt or a copy of it). My question is, would that receipt work for the old xbox 360, or do retail stores print the serial number of stuff like a video game system on the receipt?

receipts not gonna matter, the serial number on the system isnt gonna match the serial number on the box, which they will likely be checking...

Why not buy the new xbox, take the console out, put in the old one and return that?

it would probably work, but if you're that concerned about warrenty buy a new one.
if that plan backfires on you you'll either have a huge bill for repairs carried out not under warrenty or they'll have you up for fraud or something.

Haha here's what my buddy did, when his 360 broke, it was just past the warrantee deadline. So he went to Costco, purchased a new one, put the old one back in the box and returned it to Costco, who doesn't check the merchandise in the box btw, so he got a new 360 and Microsoft got fucked.

might not work if its in their system. For example, i work at sears and when anything is bought, the whole receipt goes into the computer system. Then when it is returned, the receipt stays in the system and anything on it has been returned, it gets marked as such. So if you did this on the same type of system, they would notice that the xbox had been returned and would probably know that you were trying to screw them. And they would almost definitely notice if you had your own copied version of the receipt, in part because...well...who makes copies of their receipts?
