Do what she wants to do.  Get her a lesson (early season they have good deals a lot that include lesson, rental, lift for cheep so you dont need to drop a ton of cash).  I would suggest snowboarding because the first hour of snowboarding sucks, but by the end of the day you pretty much have it down if she has a good instructor.  Skiing can take several lessons, posibally years to have it down unless she is really talented.  Good luck, I am 0 - 5 in this department, make sure she is stoked to go, if not you are wasting a good day of skiing.   If you  are old enough to drink, the bar at the resort is always a solid backup to prevent a complete waste of a day.

I wish I would have thought of that, I've been teaching mine for about three years now about 5-10 times a year. At the rate she's going she should be able to keep up in about 10 years.......maybe.

It is definetly a lose lose situation.  If your always leaving her to go ski then she is pissed,  and if you take her she gets pissed because you leave her to go ride at your level.  I can't count the number of times I go up a lift and see a boy freind standing over his very angry, crying, bruised, injured, new to winter sports significant other.  Take her snow tubbing or above is your best option.

make her get a snowboard so she doesn't expect you to spend all day teaching her.  i think snowboarding is easier to learn anyway.

a) Borat is Kasahk. (at least the character is)
b) Did you even watch the movie???  In case you didnt I'll explain it to you. Borat travel to the unisted state of america to learn about their culture and make a documentary about it. At some point in his travels someone try to explain him how to make not jokes like they do in  the USA. So a NOT joke is something about american humor that I learned from watching Borat.

Anyway an initiation to skiing course is a good idea and after that you should make sure to spend some time with her as she learns to ski.  Remember that when you go out there with her you wont be skiign extreme terrain but you can always bring her in the park  a couple times per day as long as she's aware of what to and what not to do in a park.
