Roller Blading as off season sport

been blading about a week now and it is really fun. i love how creative you can get with it, just like skiing.

just wanted to know, what you guys thought about it? who does it? any helpful hips or thoughts to express please, do tell.

I've been doing it for 3 weeks and i love it too, helps so much for rails especially. its kind of weird to get used to though because you can't have constant forward shin pressure like skiing, and you can't really pop forward against the jump you kinda just gotta go with it. once you figure out the pop and stuff its really not that different which i think is really cool. rollerskiing is blowing up now!

I've been bladin longer than skiing and I still love it! it is such a fun sport to get into, so hard to get good though lol,like the stuff the pros are doing on rail is intencely crazytech, I have so much respect for those guys.

yeah i know, in some of the videos they fucking 450 on to urban rails, then switch up their grinds 5 times before landing.

i really don't see why it is hated on.

but i suppose skiing in the park was hated on for a long time, till kids started going bid and showing up the boarders.

i suppose blading might have its day, just not now i suppose.


y do people think its so dumb anyhow?

^ the only reason i think its kind of gay is because it is so easy and for some reason i dont like the way it looks. but i cant lie, it is kind of fun because its easy.

I do it, it's fun. Always has been always will be. I think it's mostly hated on by skaters because people started comparing it to skating, it's easy in the idea that a 360 off a jump on blades is easier than a 360 off a jump on a skateboard. That and all the recreational bladers that make it look ultra-homo by wearing spandex and pads to skate on a flat path.

I love it and probably always will. I've slowed down in the past 5 years or so and I can really tell by how tired I get when I'm skiing. When I first started skiing I could charge all day and my legs never got tired, of course that was when my blades were my sole mode of transportation.

Don't you think that's a little out of line? There's tons of people who write off skiing as too easy, but I think we all know that it's a little more than curving to the right and left. I was actually going to try and find a pair of blades for the summer, just as something to keep busy with for the summer. No way you'll see me doing stair sets, but if you're reffering to that as easy? Pshhhht. Nope. If anything, rollerbladers do skiing tricks.. and then hit cement. There's really no reason to hate on blading and call it easy when there's a bunch of similarities between it and skiing.

i know i am going to sound like a cocky piece of shit, but oh well. first off, i do think that skiing is easy. i ski and also snowboard, and in my opinion, i believe that skiing is the easiest in terms of jumps and rails (excluding 50-50s on a board). i have skied less than 1.5 seasons and my second time out, i landed a 3 my first try. it took me a lot of tries to land a legit (by legit i mean off a real jump) 3 on a board. secondly, i skateboard and rollerblade. and of the two, rollerblading is way easier to do the basics. there are some crazy people that do amazing things on blades, but in general, i think that blading is easier. i dont know why i dont think it looks steezy, i just dont. it might be because it looks like some one is just spinning around and going over obstacles in their shoes or it may be from hanging out with skaters since i was young.

well then how do you explain fucking eating or watching tv?
just because eating and watching tv are easy doesn't mean its dumb.

so all i am trying to say is, if you enjoy something, and want to do something, its not dumb, its your chioce and it shouldn't matter.

razors icons...i guess they are good haha i have no idea im a n00blet but i just got them because dude at dstructure said they would best simulate skiing so I got them.

but eversince i started blading more and more people have been going out to get some skates and have followed the trend which I think is a good thing, because now I have somebody to ride with. ahh i love progression and I can definitely tell where it will help my skiing especially on rails because i have gotten so much better already and it's virtually the same feeling. once you are in the air its basically the same shit, just less swing weight because of no skis, which is sick. sooo fun too!

i just picked some up at play it again sports in burlington a week before school got out. i used them pretty much all day every day just chillin riding around, i didnt really have anyone to try stuff with, then some people started pickin up skates their too. hoepfully it gets more popular

on a side note, when i was skating around kids would straight up call you out as a faggot. kids id never even seen or talked to. What the hell makes that acceptable? seriously? shits ridiculous. wish i could pull out some heat and ask em who the faggot is. thats not aceptable no matter what someones doing, much less something as not gay as roller blading. and this was coming from kids who i had seen scootering and filming around. wtf.. end my rant

It's not that easy.  Especially to actually do  good and not look like a retard with zero style.  I just got blades, I thought I was just gonna be able to put em on and be able to slide my rail with ease and sw ups and 270s and shit.  I could frontside easy enough, but learning to lock onto souls and stuff I got pretty banged up.

i mean the basics are easy when compared to skateboarding. like dropping in, sliding rails, 360s, and basic lip tricks. and imo souls are easier because they seem to take less balance.  i slid out quite  few times trying to fs on a rail because i didnt ski when i started rollerblading.

im pretty well into it. its the best thing to do offseason other than tramping. peple say its easy cuz all they do is like 360's and regular sideways grind. u needa get new grinds like souls top souls pornstar unity savannah. thats when it really gets fun.
