Help me find the right ski!

161 is way too short for you, get something at least over 170 and mount them real close to center. and either of those skis will work fine. check out the k2 fugitive or the armada el rey too- they shouldn't cost much more than $200. look in the buy/sell/trade forum and you can find some good deals on used skis.

thoe skis seem nice.but prob. 170 would be good for you. you should try the salomon suspect
center mounted

suspect would be a bit too stiff for 130 lbs.
id look at the salomon threats if ur into salomon, bit softer.

the invaders are onlt 150$ and the silencers are 200$

silencers are probably gonna last longer/ be more durable
and again i'd really recommend at least over 170. your friends skis probably seemed long, and 170cm skis will probably seem long for about a day, but as soon as u get used to them you'll be a lot more confident on jumps and everywhere else and u'll never go back to short skis. plus, twin tips (especially soft buttery ones like ur silencers/invaders) ski/feel a lot shorter than their length in a normal ski.

naw dude u will be fine with a 170ish ski and when u progress you will be glad you went bigger... i am 5'4" and 130lbs and i ski the 171 invader.. its a great ski for both all mountain and park.. it has a lot of pop and is good for butters and such... also the K2 Fujative is a good ski for what you are wanting to ski (both allmountain and park)

171 invaders sound like they'll be right for u, invaders arnt the best in pow but i learnt to deal with them and they were easy enough to handle

You would be fine on 160ish since you are only a beginner, your light and only 170 so 160 isn't too short. I wouldn't be getting the invaders though if you dont want to spend all your time in the park like you say, its going to be way too soft for everywhere else.

Which ski is going to last me longer and which ski is going to be more flexy?

ive heard that silencers chip a lot and that worries me,and i hear about the invaders tips and tails being bad or something down the line like that. i just dont want the silencers if i got them to be chipping off and practically braking, because i want a ski that will last more then one season maybe even 2 or 3.  

i am a huge beginner. im not real sure on the size, my friend who is 6'2 300 lbs. rides 169 fujys,
and my friend who is 5'8 150 lbs has 164s so i think it would be appropiate for me to go with like 159's or in the low 160s. Also should i center mount the silencers or just put them up just a little bit. if i got the invaders i would go straight center.

I am about to tell you something very important, so you should listen.

Based on everything you have told us, you need to be on a ski that is around 170cm. Your friend who is 6'2" is a lunatic for riding anything that small. He should easily be riding a 185 or so. If you go with a 160ish ski, not only will it look ridiculous, you will outgrow it ability wise in about 2 days. DO NOT start off with a shorter ski because you are worried about being overpowered by a ski that is your correct size (170), just buy a 170 right off the bat.

Do not get the silencers, they are a shitty, stiff, dull ski that will not be fun for you. The wood in them is not poppy at all, so doing things like butters, and all around jibbing will not be as fun.

That being said I do have some other options for you...

First off is a k2 Fujative from backcountry for $150. Great ski, super flexy, the 169 would be perfect for you.

The second is the Armada Pipecleaners on Evogear for $199. Again, a great, solid ski. It is super light and a way better ski than the silencer. If you are planning on doing rails, I would go with the fujative because of the porous base of the pipe cleaner, but if you are more into jumps go with the pipe cleaner

Again, do not make a huge mistake and go with a sub-par ski that is far too small for you. Get the fujative or the pipecleaner in a 169 or 166 respectively and be happy for multiple years.

silencers seems good

if you want to ski all mountain and you are a relative beginner i wouldn't mount at centre. I don't want to start a debate about whether you can ski all mountain on centre mounted skis because obviously you can and I do. But for learning a few cm back makes sense to me. I would definitely look at the K2 Fujative in around 169 mounted at core centre or -1/2.. but I haven't ridden them myself.. I would maybe go for a mid-flex ski as you are a beginner and the AR6 in a 166 might make sense mounted about -2. I loved these all mountain and in the park. I had the 171 centre mounted and i'm about 5'9 135.. But i don't know what kind of deal you could find on them..

would a rossignol binding fit these skis? or are they too wide?

Ski length is all about personal preference. So you should try to demo some sizes first. The fact that you are an absolute beginner means you shouldn't be getting a ski thats the same height as you. If you went to a rental shop they would give you a non twin tip ski around 150cm because your a beginner so add on an extra 10cm for the upturned tail and you have around 160.
Do you want the ski specifically for the park or one that can handle the whole mountain?

I would definitely recommend a Rossignol binding. I would say recommend going with the axial heel piece because it will be very safe, but will let you grow ability wise with it.

I would recommend the ti binding for $139 over the Axial2 120 for $109. It is both a burlier binding and it is lighter because of the metal it uses. It comes with an 80mm brake and the fujative is 85 underfoot, but from experience DO NOT go with the wide brake! The standard brake will fit and will be much less likely to catch and snap when landing switch.

If you already have some rossignol bindings, just throw those on, they should be fine. and mount then core center, not true center, because it will be much more versatile and yet still kill it in the park.

ok so you know, im 5'2 and hoping i grow over the summer otherwise ile be on pretty big skis next year, anyways ile be on 173's so yeah get atleast 170 for u i think

yeah well we usually go around the whole mountain, so im going to mount them at core i guess.

i ski park and the rest of the mtn. my friend had fujys for the last couple years and he can do every part of the hill.

i want to start to ski park, but i also like hittin everything else a lot too.

i think the fujy will be a good ski for me at 169, because i can grow into it


right now im 130 lbs, by next season im thinkin like 140-145, maybe like 5'10 by then too.
