holy shit i feel so fucking bad for you. nebraska is the fucking worst state out of thwem all, and their football team sucks ass!!! shit just go eat some jello or make fun of midgets and youl feel better
sorry i really am a fucking asshole. its nothing personal or againts the state, but i am a die hard CU buffs fan and nebraska is our rival so...........
My mom grew up in Nebraska and sais when she was little she would ski down the hill behind her house on old wooden skis. There is also a small resort near her parents house, outside of Omaha.
For the most part, I don't think there is a lot of skiing. There is some Urban though, check out the trip that Sammy Carlson and people did to Omaha.
No, well, maybe the trip was organized around the storm, but it snows quite a bit there. I always get "when I was a kid, I had to walk to school in the snow uphill both ways" stories.
i organized the trip to nebraska with andreas, henitiuk, and sammy for pbp months before the denver snow storm(s). my informant, Art (that's his name), showed me a few pictures of rails in early 2006. after a little research about Nebraska's climate, i knew they received 2-6 inch snow storms quite frequently and planned accordingly. a snowstorm came, we rallied to omaha, and after five days of shredding the city we realized we didin't come close to exhausting the cities potential for urban sessioning. lincoln, nebraska, just down the rode from omaha has a ton of street options as well.
don't be bummed you are moving to nebraska. build a nice drop in, get some lights, and wait for the snow...you could jib the area for years. be stoked, i was!
Welcome to the corn husker state, no you cant ski at all here except some rails or wall rides when it storms. The nice thing is CO is not a bad drive form most of the state.
I may be in the same boat with you. I might move either to Nebraska or Indiana this summer. But as for ski resorts, there are none in Nebraska. The closest ones are Mt. Crescent just across the border into Iowa, and Big Bear or Great Bear can't remember the name, in Souix Falls South Dakota.
However Omaha, Lincoln, and Blair have heavenly virgin urban rails. Plus as long as you stay in the east, its pretty hilly for some tow in booters.
I lived in western neb for 2 years, and my family used to go to colorado regularly, and we had a backyard jib setup with an inrun off the shed, and towed into wallrides with 4 wheelers. doesnt snow tons but the snow stays for a long time. It's really not that bad, and once youre out of high school just move somewhere mountainous, people tend to live for a long time and you can ski the rest of your life. don;t sweat it too bad.
