I hear you, and you're not alone, thanks for putting your thoughts out there. I wanted to address some of your issues, with N Slope, when you say "biggest" is that size of features or overall size of the park as a whole, because NSAA has noticed a trend with parks across the country that Medium Parks are the most used parks that any resort will offer because most freestyle riders can find something they can all ride. N Slope as a park trail is actually a really good trail, has the pitch and it's consistantly flat, we just need more of the trail to spread out more to get a more flowy park, and I'm pretty sure I've got them to committ more to me for 09. But I'm glad to see you did enjoy yourself "every time". Well, I'm working hard to get better terrain for the parks, Not sure where yet but I'm very vocal about it here at work to nudge them in the right direction.
Here's something you may not have known, I only have 1 snowcat to work with, it has to cover Sm, Md, Lg parks and 1/2 pipe and with only 15hrs a night to rebuild and groom them all, I'll tell you it's a race against time every night, I pass the cat off at midnight to my next guy to finish whatever I coulden't, with only 2 of us, rebuilds were next to impossible, if I worked during the day to do that 1 guy can't groom the rest alone, but like I said I'm working to get more operators and another machine. But in a way you're right, they don't know that much about parks, but our new V.P. of operations comes from MT. Snow when they had the X Games but the all mighty dollar rules anywhere you go, so you better have good answers whe they ask "how are we going to pay for this". I've been grooming for 15 yrs now and building parks for 14 yrs and I still learn things all the time, I've heard that "success is a series of mistakes" and it's true, no one lands a new trick the first time you try it, but you learn how to get closer to getting it.
So I'm still learning, and you guys/gals are helping, keep it comming, your opinions are welcome, whatever they are, just be respectfull. Thanks
