Theme for English 10
On a slow day in class,
My teacher asked,
Me to write a page.
I’m not a poet in any way,
Unless writing music counts.
I like to play electric guitar, and my home is up on the lonely stage,
With my band mates and the crowd too.
When on stage the music takes total control,
I have no say.
Some invisible element drives me on,
To let out my emotions and play.
I let my music speak to the crowd,
I can’t fully express my emotion any other way.
Playing guitar is what I do,
It gives me bliss, peace, and a fix.
It gives me a high like no other, except for skiing.
I like to ski too,
Mainly the three P’s—
Park, pipe, and powder.
There’s nothing like it,
The rush of floating thirty feet in the air,
Or the peacefulness of floating through clouds of white.
Skiing is a drug,
It frees me of my emotions.
Whenever I am on the hill, I feel free and chill.
Nothing can bother me.
Skiing is an addiction,
I constantly crave for more…
To go higher, faster, smoother.
Nothing beats the high of skiing. 30
My life is defined by these two passions.
Take both away and I am nothing.
I could be poor,
But if I have my skis,
And my guitar,
Then I need nothing more.
Skiing and guitar are my addictions, drugs.
Skiing and guitar are my life,
Till the day I am dead,
This is my theme for English 10.
