What are my K2 Public Enemies good for?

just finished my first season, I used K2 Public Enemies, 174 legnth and I'm 5'11. I don't know anything about skis but these seemed like they are heavier and stiffer than other ones I saw. What are these good for?

I want to get some new skis but keep my K2s as well, so what is a good ski that is like the opposite of the Public Enemy?

Well, first of all, where do you ski? What do you ski(groomers, pow, park)? What do you want the next ski to be for? All mountain? Powder? Just park?

Public enemies are stiff, but overall good for all mountain riding. If you want something around the same dimensions, but soft (you said complete opposite), I'd look at the Line Anthems. Very soft, but they're wide enough to handle most terrain, provided you can ski. They were the first skis that came into my head when you said complete opposite. When you've answered those questions above we'll be able to help you more.

Oh, and I wouldn't keep the PE's, primarily because they're too small for you. You could probably look at something around 180, give or take a couple.

eh, unfortunately I think I will be skiing mostly in New Jersey since my gf lives in NYC. I was going to try to go to vermont or somewhere for the first and last months of the season.

I will be mainly in the park except after days when I've fallen alot then I will go downhill for a couple days but NJ mountains are just hills do I dont need a good ski for that , just one for the park.

I like to do try  to do everything, except for halfpipe I guess. I just didn't know if there were different skis that are good for jumps of some that are good for rails.

If my 174 PEs are too short then I would just like a good all around park ski that are more flexible and lighter than that PEs.

Atomic Urban Punx. I love these skis, they are definitely lighter than your PEs and way flexier  too.

I'd get invaders or anthems for park skis then use the PEs for shreddin out of the park. well if you get anthems you could also just use those for shredding everything and retire the PEs to urban or sell them. My friend also loves his atomic punx so maybe those would be baller too.

T-halls, AR6, or Rossi Ghettos (that is the Scratch now right?) would be a lighter, more flexy all around ski.  My dad has those PE's and the are stiffer and heavier than my 188 JJ's.  Just use them for riding groomers and stuff if you want to keep them, but I would recommend a new park ski around 180 in length.

That won't be too difficult, haha. How much do you weigh? Invaders are pretty fun, but really soft so it's not for anyone too heavy. You've got a huge number of choices, actually. Take a look at the 4Frnt STL's, Line Chronics, Salomon Dumont Pros. It seems that the skis around 80mm from companies such as Volkl/Fischer are pretty stiff this year (07/08).

This past season, creek gave me some PE's during this pipe jam thing they had.

They were 179 (way to big for me) so I sold them on ebay.  I got like 240ish for them I believe.  It was awesome

How much do you weigh, length really has to do with how much you weigh rather than how tall you are. Armada has some pretty good skis, and they are pretty light. I would go with the AR6. I have it and I love it!

k2 pubs suck for park!   i had the hardest time skiing on these.  the only two days i enjoyed on them was a trip up to lutsen to ride some minnesota pow and the weekend i spent in michigan rideing pow, they ride way nice out of the park there way fast but they suck for park

I would choose AR6 or Punx, i live on east coast, ski in vermont every weekend and i think these are my favorite skis ever. Not only for me though they fit perfectly for what you wanted. I would highly recommend these as you skis for next year, with salomon STH bindings.

PE's are good for everything, the problem is they aren't really amazing at one specific thing.  If you do a little bit of everything, they are a great ski for you.  If you strictly ski park, they probably aren't the best ski for you.

thanks guys, I'm glad to hear that they aren't so great in the park. It felt like they were holding me back but I coudln't be sure. But whatever I got it 4 cheap and I had fun. If I don't see improvements next year Im going to be pissed at myself since I won't have any excuse.

I would say though that when you are doing gaps/disasters to rails though, they are probably the most solid ski out there.

it all depends on what you like,  if u like stiff skis get a stiff ski, if you like soft get a soft.
demo if you can, best way to figure out what u want, and if u cant demo a ski u want demo something similar then u can tell by hand flexing compared to what u demoed if u will like it

public enemies were awesome when they first came out, probably the best ski out there for a year or so afterwards even.  Once realizing this, you need to think of them as a bombproof, allmountain twin.  It will shred the park if you are good enough to shred them.  If you are good enough to specialize in something else, then maybe get a way softer ski or something, but they are still a sick ski.  Skiing had moved away from the niche that the public enemy has held, as a all mountain ski that you can shred in the park.  I have never skied east of colorado, but from what I understand it is pretty park specific, so maybe a softer ski would be easier for you. 

I am an advocate of longer skis.  I am your size and I ride a 180 in park (183 gotama and 189 bent too) and I think that smaller skis are easier for park, and if its all your doing its fine, though not as manly.  a 175 k2 isnt that bad though, just don't go below that. 

I would suggest, like those before me, anthems, maybe invaders, fujis(which I personally loved), and maybe ar6s,

fi this is ur first year skiing park, i garentee you that you really dont need annother ski pe's are fine for you iv skied them there not bad at all

well if you want to ride everywhere, i dont recommend getting a center mount ski

go with a salomon SPK

Wel, if you ski in NJ, that means you ski at Mountain Creek, and if you ski there, you ski park. So just get a really park specific ski. Nordica Ignition, Atomic Punx, Scott P3, all these are park specific and solid. I have Surface Watch Lifes, but I like a different kind of ski for park.

i wouldnt get AR6's (or any armada, actually). i had a pair of AR6's, and my bindings ripped out a total of 4 times (i had them mounted in two different locations, and it happened i think both places on each ski). my friend who has the AR6's blew his rear peice of the binding out of the ski and the ski is done now, and my other friend with the t-halls is having trouble with the back part of the binding coming loose all the time...


i think it might be (somebody from a shop told me this, but they were from NS, so i dont know the valaditiy of this claim) that armada reccomends a hole for the bidnign that is too big, so it rips out easily. they should use a smaller hole, so the screw grips better. i dont know if this is true though

mine are mounted + 3 from the wayy far back mounting point, and they slay all mountain-icy- new england stuff. i race though so i prefer stiff skis.
