Not true. Generally the more expensive the pole the longer it will last. Composite poles are pretty expensive, they can bend alot so as not to snap, but spring back instantaneously. Generally cheap poles are made of aluminum, which bends super easy. I had a pair, and every fall I had they would turn into U's. If you don't get composite poles, get some that are 7075 alloy. Most durable metal poles that can be bought, and they're quite affordable.
