Cutting hdpe

hello everyone

so i want to make a flat box and im looking at hape prices online and i can afford it. but it seems more cost efficient to buy it wider and cut it in half.  but i was wondering if it is that easy? and what you would use? if it is a 1/4 of an inch is that too thin to cut. also is that thick enough to counter sink screws? i think it would be. would i be better off to buy it and cut it or buy it in the size i already want?

im looking at k-mac plastics becuase they seem to be more inexpensive and has more options then usplastics

1/4 in is fine for countersinking just be careful, for cutting, I use a circular saw with a 7 in diamond blade.

table saw is the best if you have one but any saw with a wood blade should cut plastic fine

Shipping costs might be more if you buy a bigger piece.  They may require it to ship by freight instead of like ups.

no dont use screws....the best thing to use is liquid nails, you can pick it up at any hardware store i just built a 24' box for the summer with lexan as the topsheet. lexan is kid of expensive so jjust spit it w/friends thats what i did and its totally worth getting it because you can basically get it in any shape or size at home depot

Screws are the best way.  You just countersink them and it's perfect.

a table saw would be your best bet, use a blade with a lot of teeth though it will give you a much smoother cut and has less of a chance of chipping it.  also cut it with two people have one person on each side of the saw to support it

if you ordered the HDPE off of usplastics.com it says that any power saw will be fine.
