for still being open this weekend. they had the snow to run the lifts so they ran em for the love of the sport. it makes me sad to hear about all these westcoast mountains with way more snowfall and base closing earlier because the spring isnt profitable enough, or god forbid so their staff can get focused on the golf season (or 'opening the alpine slide' as im told was a facor in park city's early closing). im proud to buy my seasons pass at hills that put skiing first and are as eager as i am to make the season as long as possible.

That's actually why I got my pass there
1st to open
and last to close with set ups almost when they open until they close

I ski Jay and I love Jay and I'm glad they were open as late as they were, but in defence of some of those western mountains, a lot of them happen to be in National Forests or other restricted use areas where they are only legally allowed to operate for a certain number of days a year. It is like back east where we don;t set opening and closing dates until we know what the snow conditions are going to be like. Many western mountains know months in advance when their closing date will be, regardless of snowpack.
But yea, Jay kicks ass and I was very happy they were still open up til last weekend.
