i really think the bling-bling era that is making a huge black mark on hip hops perfect record, needs to cease and desist immediately. the fact that wearing a huge diamond chain is seen as fly or baller by the public, is disgusting. these perpetrators wearing huge fucking chains need to realize that, most likely, their precious diamonds were dug out of the ground by African slaves. African slaves who are forced to work naked and cavity searched everyday.

it just seems very ignorant that these rappers, who are more often than not of African decent, continue to support the means from which there rocks come from. it is almost hypocritical how they blame the white man for exploiting them and enslaving them. but then you see that big fucking chain, and all their credibility is out the window.

now, dont get me wrong, its not just rappers who are responsible. i just think everyone who rocks diamonds should be a little more conscious of where they came from and how they got to their finger or neck. the problems are far greater than what i described. things like tribal warfare, genocide, and terrorism. all because of a few rocks put under extreme pressure. not to mention the brainwashing and manipulation enacted by the Da Beers company over the last 80 years.

raekwon, paul wall, and some other dude went to africa and did a documentary about blood diamonds. i saw the first half of it, pretty good footage. i'm not sure if it has turned many people's minds around, but i'm sure it did for them, and they're pretty big name dudes.

blood diamonds only account for a small percentage of the diamond industry. and after the kimberly process was put into action that has gone down even more. just so you know most diamonds are legit and if you are worried about it there are ways to make sure the diamonds you are looking at are not conflict diamonds.

After the sierra leone incident the blood diamond trade fell off a lot I think, theres some still out there but chances are your probably not buying a conflict diamond, plus you can always ask the store to tell them where they got your diamond from

What about the CEO's wives that have 15 different diamond necklaces? What about the 10-year-old girl who wears her mom's diamond earrings from time to time? Is everyone who wears diamonds contributing to the mayhem in Africa? No.

Most of the fault lies with the companies, not the consumers.

please just buy man made diamonds, they are more pure than natural ones and you can be sure that they are legit.

even if a diamond is not a conflict diamond (you can never be sure) it is still bad for the earth because we often dig these huge fucking pits to get a small amount of diamonds.

i was just trying to emphasize that rappers are promoting this shit and it seems like they should be a little conscious of what theyre supporting because they should give a shit.

the fact that African slaves are mining their diamonds should be more than enough for them to become socially aware and even try to do something about it, instead of buying mad diamonds.

i think everybody should be in the mindset of Mos Def. he is very socially conscious and is very quick to point out the bullshit. but, the hip hop we once knew is on the way out, which is sad. its the money man...the money.

this is true, certain minerals get trapped in the diamonds and they can measure the levels of those materials to differentiate which diamonds are from what area, basically if you buy one from an authorized dealer in the U.S. it is highly unlikely that it is a combat zone diamond
