Are any of you Bellingham guys fans of the UFC and MMA? I just joined the West Coast Fight Club just off of State st. and Ohio, and I was surprised by how good the instruction is, the coaches there really know their shit, and it can be pretty affordable. Just curious if anybody was looking to do some training this summer. I set up a gym of sorts in my garage, mats, heavy bag etc. I bought a big Krav Maga book to study, but I need somebody to do the training drills with me. Let me know if you're curious, I can teach you some shit.

Also no none of us really box, sometimes little silly untrained "fight clubs" with friends but never anything serious. But we're open to ski with you!

I am a huge fan of MMA, so its awesome to see someone else really into it, but to be honest Im just a fan aha. I wanted to pick up BJJ but Im a skinny kid who spends too much time studying for easy classes >

Attempt #4, before I throw this thing out the window.
After what i typed earlier I was just trying to say that if theres any fights you want to watch I can probably send them to you because I have just about every Pride and UFC event on my computer. I was also wondering if you wrestled in high school, because some of my friends from school have transitioned to MMA and Im excited to watch their debuts later this month. Much respect to anyone who picks up such a mentally, physically and technically demanding sport and if you are planning on competing I will for sure come out and watch.
YEAH I TYPED THAT 4 TIMES, stupid fucking computer~

My brother does MMA fighting out of Charlies Combat Club in Everett. Had his first fight last summer and beat some ass. He was also a very accomplished wrestler his entire life, so he has the ground game down.

Charlies is a legit club, I've seen a few of their guys fight a few years ago, I remember they all dyed their hair red.
Collegiate style wrestlers are pretty good at the ground and pound game, but an experience jiu-jitsu artist will usually make short work of them in an MMA fight.
I'm not by any means a rock star at it, and I've never fought, but I love training.
I just love being a student of the martial arts, I find them to be fascinating. Right now while I'm young I want to study more modern martial arts systems like MMA for beating peoples faces in and Krav Maga for killing people in desparate situations, and filipino Escrima for weapons training. When I'm older I think I'll probably study some more traditional and spiritual arts. Bujinkan budo taejitsu (Ninjutsu to those who don't know, but its really the only legit school of Ninjutsu) is on the list, along with wing chun kung fu, capoiera, tae kwon do (only because my dad held a second degree black belt, and studying it would be a way to honor his memory) and even traditional aikido because its really funny when somebody tries to attack you and you just keep throwing them without really hurting them, they get really frustrated.
Mostly I'm just looking for somebody to study some Krav Maga with, because there is no Krav Maga gym in Bellingham.
Also does anybody BMX? it seems like everyone mountain bikes...
And Sam, I'm only up there on wednesday and thursday right now, once I find a job I'll be up there all the time. Sarah and I usuallly go out to karaoke at the fairhaven every wednesday night, pitchers of blue moon are only $6.50!

my days off are wed and thurs.
you should meet me downtown one of these nights (where i mostly am when im not at home, friends in surrounding neighborhoods). the Up 'n Up has 4.00 pabst pitchers and is a personal favorite, and the 'Shoe has 2.50 house wells and Case Que Pasa has great specials everyday.

we'll see bro, we're really trying to limit ourselves to one night out a week, and the fairhaven seems to be our weekly ritual. I'm trying to focus my energy towards more wholesome things and my physical and mental fitness. Reality is hitting me hard these days, and besides, I have a lot more fun going to the gym than I do going out to a bar.

how's that working out for ya?
Martial arts aren't about fighting anyways, they're about peace. A wise man once said "If you want peace, prepare for war"

aikido is the shit. if your good at it you can handle almost anyone as long as they don't decide to sit back and shoot you from a few meters away. Training for aikido with your friends is supper fun too. Sean you should try and learn aikido, be good for a small guy like you, then you could throw people Kevin's size around no problem.

I throw him around when we're intimate, if that counts for anything.

Aikido is lame, purely defensive, also they can't do anything to you if you don't give them your momentum.
