Beartooth pass lifts at twin lakes headwall this summer

I would post this in regionals but no one would see it.

Are the lifts on twin lakes headwall on Beartooth Pass going to open this summer? Does anyone have a website, phone number, email, to anyone that operates the lift or has info on it?

And when do they usually open? I know the pass opens on Memorial Day but I've heard the lifts dont start running until around mid june. I read some where that the public can get $35 lift tickets and the mountain is limited to 100 skiers per day. If anyone has any info on this, in addition on where to get the lift tickets(I went there last year and there are just lifts, no buildings to buy tickets or anything), it would be great.

So please if you have any info on the ski area at beartooth this summer, let me know. It's gonna be a large part of a 2 week road trip from atlanta Im planning with skoganskier101.

There is (or was) a sticky about this in the regionals.  I'm not sure where to get tickets though, I've always had way more fun thumbin' it back up for each run.

how can you hitch hike it at twin lakes? I guess you could climb towards the road on the left when your looking at the headwall? We're planning on car lapping rock creek headwall and prob hiking garner headwall. It will just be nice to have lift access to twin lakes cause that place is sick.

Ok never mind. The lifts will no longer be opening due to insufficient funds. The skiiing though should be good for a while

I emailed them a few days ago, and I got the email today that they arent opening the lifts this summer. This sucks, cause beartooth will prob be scratched off the list for my summer ski trip.

It looks like they will be opening this summer. I have been emailing one of the guys who owns it and he said that they have good snow, it has been cold, and several race camps an "extreme" camp and a mogul camp put on by Tony Gilpin have all committed dates. They will be selling lift tickets to the public for $45. Be sure and email them when you wan to come because there is a 100 skier at a time limit on the hill...

It should never be open before memorial day cause the road doesn't open before then. thats at least what i've known and heard.

am I right local people?

Camp is opening this year. It will be open sometime in June. one of the partners died skiing last year and they are trying to keep in running. But it will be open, remember you better not just roll up as it does have the 100 skier limit.

That would be correct. In my experience they aim for memorial day but often that goal isn't met because of the weather and occasionally budget issues. I would check their progress close memorial day if you're traveling.

I also heard one of the owners died this winter, I'm not sure if that will have any effect on RLISC.

I will say, go if you can. beartooth is so sick. 2 years ago, I hiked twin lakes headwall on july 5th. There wasn't enough snow to have the lifts open for most of the summer. (There was almost no snow on rock creek headwall, and garner looked bad too). take a look at my pics.

But seriously, the terrain up there is so sick to hit during the summer. I want to go back so bad. I wish I had had more time to ski more than one line up there so I could have skied something challenging. Ill be back someday.

even if the lift doesnt open just go anyways. my family has gone numerous years and skied there..last year i skied up through the second weekend in july. but just to be safe just go a couple of weeks earlyer. its soo much fun. they hiking is deff worth it. and last year a group of guys had a really nice jump set up up there it was pretty much the highlight of my summer! oh and last year they didnt open memorial day weekend if i can recall cause there was too much snow on the pass to open. so you just gotta check highway updates online.. i would plan on the following weekend though

yeah def. dont think I was suggesting against hiking. It's still fun.

Its bony as hell in this pic, but you can see a lift tower at the bottom right, and the lift goes up out of the pic on the top left.

I worked there the last summer they were open. and they usually dont know if they can open till may.  There are so many factors that decide if that place will run, but the owner is going to try again this summer and i am going to work there again if they do. i will keep NS informed on the status but even if the lifts dont run the beartooth pass is still a great summer ski trip.

biggity bump, any new info? I know they never know for sure but can anyone give me any info about Beartooth for this summer? How has snow been in MT this year? Did anyone talk w/ the owners at all this winter to see if they have the cashola needed to run the lifts?

I think they plan to open, if you go to their website they have updated their calendar with dates for 2010. Who knows how the snow is, It started out really good for the state but last I heard our statewide snowpack is about 65%of average for this time of year. April and May are our snowy months though so anything can happen at this point. It's snowing at my house 4 hours away now.

Last year was so much fun! This year I dont plan on getting hypothermic and feeling like death though. I also dont feel like getting molested by crazy rednecks in the middle of the woods. Shit was intense.

yeah they do, and last year it was pretty sick. Plus theres some pretty dang sick lines up above the park too for those who dabble outside. Caveman might have some pictures of it
