definatly not rosi or k2 their products are totally shitty not to offend the the rossi k2 fans  outthere but their products are not that inovative or that preformace driven. maybe the hellbents for k2 but thats it
i would have to say that icelantic skis is the most legit ski company. they are really getting a strong footing in the industry. especially in the pacific NW. the sales reps for the area are totally legit and totally want to hear your views on the product and how to improve it. so yah that my opinion.... ICELANTIC

I hate these threads for one simple reason, everyone just throws out names of companies but there is no backing. Let me start a new trend (hopefully it catches on)

So, I am going to throw out 4frnt,  first, everytime I ever have a question I can call them and they will answer. Their customer service is great. Plus, now they have the "live chat" feature which makes it very easy to ask a question. Second, I dig their skis. I currently have the MSP from 06/07. I love them never had a problem with the ski, they are build well. The problem I do have with 4frnt is that all their shirts seem to shrink in the wash, but oh well. I also think their artist who do their graphics are pretty talented. Lastly, they have a pretty sick team and some of the younger team members are going to so sick in a couple of years, not saying they arent sick now.

okay k2 is the most un-legit company ever, their skis are shit holes except for the seths and hellbents. everything else is so poorly made that it just sucks, i've broken so many k2's but never broken anything from another company

i have to say line, probably the most bomber skis out there, great customer support, and the bases are so strong on the prophet series those it's actually really hard to get scratches

i've also been a long-time dynastar skier and i like their shit, especially the legend series like the pro rider and the XXL, i liked my tm's okay but i prefer other companies for park specific skis

im gona say volkl, all there skis are pretty bomb proof. race skis, twin tips, etc. And  they also have tecnica and marker under there name. Now with the Jester and the Duke out, marker has its name back in the elite binding catagory. While tecnica has been making sick boots for awhile. As far as warranty issues  ive never had to use it, because ive never had a problem with any of my skis or boots

this year they had the wall, where every other person had their binding rip out. and before that they had the dogens, which just snapped in half.
the karmas were tight but then they stopped making them.

anyway i'd say k2 for customer service. and then moment for overall coolness. i think moment is gonna be the new armada in few years.

I would have to say salomon. Minus the edge issue (that is being fixed) IMO their skis are the best park skis, durable and light

line is a separate company but k2 owns them from a legal standpoint, they have rights. the skis are made differently and in different places, just like how nike owns bauer. nike shit sucks and bauer is the best so bauer is still its own company. the customer support is completely different along with everything about the 2 companies except for the legal/financial rights. also, k2 skis suck and lines are some of the best and everything about the skis is different, the sidewalls, bases, cores, edges, it's all different, so that is a dumb post

You should know what you talk about before you start calling people out. Both K2 and LINE are built in the same factory. The difference is that we use different engineering and shapes. K2 wraps their cores in fiberglass, known as the triaxial brainding, LINE uses macroblock cores. We also have different artists. different marketing groups, different sales forces, etc. This differentiates the two brands from one another. We both use input from out respective athletes and knowledge from our engineers and ski testers and we both set out to make what we consider the best skis. We are more connected than you stated above, but we still maintain our own identity and products. We don't share ski shapes or molds. But we do go skiing together as much as we can. On that note, Alpental is still open this weekend. See you there.

k2's skis are not performance driven or inovative? they made the kahuna before the super fat ski trend caught on. they came out with the fujative with a very specific flex pattern before anyone else was really playing that game, and they're still one of the best park skis on the market. they also made the first semi modern twin tip, not counting the olin mark IV. also, their customer service people are some of the most helpful in the industry. i've worked at a shop for 7 years and have had to deal with warrenties and shipping issues from every company, and k2 is one of the easiest companies to deal with. that being said, you might just not like how their skis ride, which is fine, everyone has their opinion, but they are by no means a crappy company.

dont be a dick dude..just because somebody doesnt like your product doesnt mean their opinion isnt justified.

anyones whos dealt with a smaller company knows what he is talking about..

cant any HUGE ski company(k2,rossi,salomon,atomic,etc.) complete your warrantee transaction is less than a week?highly doubtful.

PM Gear sent me a new pair of skis in 3 days. yes..3 days. and i got to keep the other pair and epoxy them back up. sorry, but you, or any other huge company for that matter can not do that. to me thats nearly 1/2 of what makes up a legit company.

PM Gear, Moment, Igneous, Movement, Armada, Praxis, Black Diamond, Helly Hansen, Dakine, Smith, Giro, and Hestra are at the top of my list.

All of them have a legit-totally legit customer service-from personal experience and what ive hear. All put out exceptional products and *most* are way chill people. Also Pm Gear, Moment, Igneous, and Praxis are 100% customer driven.

companies I am stoked on in no peticular order:
K2:
along with line these guys have been leading it in the fat skis for the last few years, usually a step or two ahead of anyone else. The Seth (pistol/Vicious) has allways been one of the best skis every year. They have allways been up there with the supper fats as well. While I don't care much for their other skis, their fat skis have allways been the with the best. As far as the company goes every one who is involved with them is supper cool. Really a company that thinks skiing and life should be fun, and it shows.

Line:
Their skis are some of the best out there across the board, they are also supper innovative. see K2.

Dynastar:
Amazing skis. thats all I can say, I have ridden the whole trouble line as well as the Legend Pro and XXL. The Trouble maker is still the best pipe ski out there. The big trouble is an amazing all mountain ski and can kill it in any terrain. And when more people start skiing the Huge trouble it is going to blow minds. Such an amazing big mountain/ powder ski. In the Legend Series the XXL is the best big mountain charging ski around hands down. and look bindings are still the best out there

Salomon:
To be honest salomon has been one of the shittiest companies out there for a long time with the only thing worth while being 916s. this has changed, For the first time I am actually excited with their line for next year.

Moment:
coolest company to come out in the last few years. cool people cool skis.

ON3P:
look out world




Companies I am not stoked on:
Marker: their binding still suck (yes that includes jesters)
ninthward: self explanatory?
Surface: could we get a more generic line of skis? no? did not think so.
4frnt: really shitty, but I won''t go into details, they have gone affter people who were negative about them on here.

I've always been a loyal LINE guy, every pair of skis I've owned from them were awesome, never had any problems whatsoever, and they started the fat ski thing...enough said.

I'm not real stoked on K2 cause they are heavier than a semi-truck and I've heard of quality issues. And Ryan doesn't help their case any, because quite honestly, a lot of times he just chimes in to be a dick. And trashing on Icelantic is bad form, they are a legit company, and everyone who I've heard has ridden the skis loves them. Bad form Schmies. And the icing is that the whole "kill-death-gnar-demon-core-razor-blade-bloodbath" graphics really turn me off of their line.

Armada is keeping it real with new designs for the JJ, but a lot of the smaller guys are ones I would rather support, like ON3P, PMgear, DPS, Praxis, Moment, etc.

And Lib...I don't care if the call them skis or snowboards or whatever, Lib Tech makes legit gear for both skiers and boarders (I do both), and they are environmentally aware, which is awesome.

Everytime I see a thread about another ski company, you always chime in with some dickfaced comment.

Ive never seen someone represent a company in such a horrible way. Just turns me off from K2 even more.

Im glad Im not the only one who sees your bad form, negative ass attitude, and a clear jealousy for companies that put out products of superior quality. Word.

I am sarcastic, but that is construed by you as 'dickhead behavior'. Perhaps one day we will actually meet and ski together and you can form an opinion of me away from you monitor. Jealousy?. I'm just a dude that loves to ski and is happy to do what I do. SImple as that, you obviously don't know me for shit. It doesn't hurt my feelings if one of my good friends doesn't ski on K2, and I'm absolutely positive I am fine with you skiing whatever you want to ski and supporting whatever you want to support.

Its easy to form an opinion of someone over the internet when what they say in similar situations is pretty consistent.

It would be nice to see the side of you that you describe. Just letting you know how you come off. Maybe you want to re-evaluate it, considering you ARE representing a company.

Well they're all legit as long as they're incorporated.
I would assume that anyone you have heard of who is retaining a revenue of +$1 is legit.

Armada...
They always hold up well in the park, they are soft and buttery but safe to go "big" with, hold up well in pow, they have exceptional customer service and you know you are getting a quality ski because their pros all use the exact same ski as the ones they are selling (unless their is an unusual circumstance).
also they have the best team...

i havent yet heard anything about Volkl....so i think i should contribute..
Volkl has always had a solid setup, gret skis, good customer service, and not to mention that my walls (unlike others on NS) held up incredibly on rails, no split edges etc. But next year, atomic for sure.

K2 for sure!!!!!

K2 has always been on the forefront of the sport, and has a very solid image.  Their skis are great, and I have never had problems with them, besides the original enemies, which I went through several pairs of.  But they did send me new ones without troubles. 

People are saying that k2 is innovative in ski design.  Are you kidding me?  The pontoon?!?!?!  the enemy, the public enemy? 

Are you forgetting about these skis that revolutionized twin tips? 

Remember the original morrison?

The seth/pisol/vicious/obSETHed has been one of the best skis to buy, ever, repeatedly getting "top picks" from numorous magazines. 

I have broken my fair share of k2s, but every time its because I was pushing them hard.  its what happens when you do crazy things on skis, and it happens to every ski(and snowboard). 


Do I even have to mention the hellbent?

Some of you might bitch about the public enemy now, but it was totally original and set the standard for twin tip skis.  Now many of you park-specific riders denounce it, but guess what, it isnt aimed at you.  It is aimed at people that ski the whole mountain and still venture into the park. 

Besides the engineering of their skis, which is awesome, k2 has always had awesome graphics.  Once again I remind you of the original public enemy.  There had never been anything like that. 


I feel bad that they discontinued such an iconic ski, but it lives on in the extreme.

Oh yeah, they also strived to create a price point ski before most anyone else.  While some people argue that the fuji wasnt durable, I respectfully disagree.  My fujis lasted 2 full seasons of hard abuse. 

That being said, other companies still make great skis.

What was revolutionary about the enemy? Or the Public Enemy for that matter?
They were both pretty good all-mountain twintips for when they were around, but nothing that changed the face of skiing as we know it.

Hellbent is a good design, but again, other people as using it...

And Shane is responsible for the Pontoon, but he designed the Spatula before that, so can't really chalk up his ideas to K2.

Salomon sure, they invented the twin tip as we know it now. and the fat ski. remember when it was the xscream 1080, and the1080 pocket rocket?

But what has atomic brought to the table as revolutionary? Beta carve? lol.... They just kinda follow the trend and play it safe. 3 skis for the price of 2? make 2 stronger and better built. naming your skis after things in black culture? nice marketing to white kids. Finally using sidewalls? good call, but I dare you to show me revolutionary.

The public enemy was pretty bombproof compaired to other skis.  I guess the scratch came out around the same time, but the BULLET RIVOTS definatley make an impact, you see other companies doing the same thing.  Believe it or not, the public enemies were pretty wide for their time, at 80 mm underfoot, I believe this was quite a bit larger than any others.

Maybe this just stems from the excitment I witnessed in the ski industry when the public enemy was introduced.  If I hadn't snapped my first pair, I am sure they would still be in working order (They snapped because of the second mount and comming down still corked out on a cerk5). 

And who else did the hellbent thing when they did?  now there are plenty of fat twin rockered skis, but at the time I think the only thing that was comparable were the EP pros. 

And Yes, the spatula WAS the revolutionary rockered(reverses camber)/reverses sidecut ski.  But it was heavy as hell.  k2 allowed mcconkey to perfect the concept, and idea, and it doesnt reallly look anything like the spatula.  It doesnt really look like anything else out there, nor ski like anything else out there.

I guess I have always thought that k2 really embodies skiing, and give a lot to the sport.  Especially on the west coast.  I guess for me, I don't know anyone that doesnt own a pair(or 3) of k2s.  and absolutly love them.

Im not saying the pocket rocket was first... Im saying it paved the way. It sold out all over the place for sooo long. Plus it was super ahead of its time. I know people that still ride that ski... the first edition. That is revolutionary. Well, how I would define it anyways.
