Going to Court

 So I went to court today (April 28, 2008) for graffiti with a paint marker. I shouldn't have done it, but I was thinking at the time when I got caught, and now I have sixteen hours of community services. Not that bad, but ok least it not twenty-four hours. I know you don't care but you shouldn't tag on private or public property. It look ugly and I dislike it now, so write what you want about this or hate on me all I care.

So let me get this straight... before all this happened you were like "Yeah, graffiti is badass" and you were a thinking, self-opinionated human being. Then you got caught and slapped with probably the most minor charge available, 16 hours of community service, and now like a robot they retrained your brain into believing graffiti is wrong. They did such a good job you decided to post THEIR propaganda and THEIR ideas on NS because you are no longer capable of thinking for yourself.

You are not going to prison for some paint marker graffiti. Now, you do a 7x60 foot spread on the side of a warehouse and incarceration may be in your future. A shitty paint marker tag (we know it's shitty because you used paint markers, by the way... they're pretty cool but not "real" graffiti/art by any means) is gonna get you a fine and a bill for the damage you caused, kid.

i'm going to go ahead and say i agree with this. i mean a lot of graffiti looks better than the simple color on the wall. like as long as its not offensive or another person tries to make it ugly graffiti is beautiful and there are a lot of talented people out there too bad they dont ask for permission to do their stuff.

You don't know if it was shitty or not because you were there. Paint marker doesn't make a noise like when you spray paint something you can here the noise. That didn't make sense, but I have to go.

im pretty sure most of the people that tag know the consequences of getting caught let alone everyone that i know, theres alot worse than 2 days of community service so if your gonna totaly turn on it you shouldnt have been doing it in the first place

And yes, paint markers aren't going to produce real graffiti. I know what they are. I know the benefits of them. I even know that they're pretty fucking badass. But go down to a local bridge where there's a lot of graffiti, and tell me if paint markers can come anywhere near the art there. It's not even a comparison. That's why paint markers = vandalism, and spray paint = art/graffiti.

I dunno, I think if i owned a building that got tagged, even by spraypaint, i wouldn't be standing there saying "damn, just check out this masterpiece right on my very own wall!" I'd be pissed either way. Though i must say, some of the stuff i've seen is damn good and a lot better than i could ever manage, but a lot of it just sucks.

Oh I know the building owners don't give a fuck what the person used, in fact they'd probably prefer paint markers because they're easier to clean up. Wasn't my point. And you're right that a lot of the graffiti sucks, but if you have a good graffiti community (like there is in Burlington area VT) all the shit gets covered up fast by talented people.

I wouldn't drink till I was 21 if I got caught and was sent to jail because of it. Or at least, I'd understand the problems with it enough after they talked with me about it to drink only lightly.
You're being WAY too cynical about it and to tell you the truth you come off as a complete asshole. Be happy about how he is realizing that what he did was wrong.

yes, but it is related to going to court, which is the title and partially the topic of the thread. and my friend is kind of dumb for doing it, but it was a great prank. he parked it perpendicular to road, blocking 5 lanes of traffic. there was a thread about this a while ago.

Haha k.

Now tell me, if you were caught drinking before the age of 21, would you come on NS and post "Hey guys I used to love drinking but I got caught the other day and this incident has shown me the light. Don't underage drink, it's bad! I hate drinking now!"  I got caught with a 300$ bong and 11 grams, I still smoke. Doesn't make any sense.
