are graphite shafts any good? im looking at a set now that is an absolutely ridiculous deal but the irons have graphite shafts. ping rapture driver 10.5*, rapture 3 and 5 woods, and the rapture irons for $600, all graphite shafts. are there any graphite users on NS? please let me know. i need input!!
I've never used graphite shafts on my irons. The only people I ever knew with graphite iron shafts were girls because they needed the extra clubhead speed.
clubs need to be fitted to your swing pretty much. swing speed and other shit. graphite shafts are usually for slowing swing speeds on irons. also i have the 9.5 rapture and u might want to think about getting lower lofted driver depending on swing speed and the trajectory and shit you want.... so basically it depends.
really it's all going to be personal preference, try hitting the clubs and see if you like them. basically the graphite is going to have more flex in it, and i'm pretty sure it does generate a bit more club head speed (not a notable difference). but that increase is actually going to in a sense increase the loft on your irons, and they'll hit higher and not much further. basically just go and hit them, if you like them then buy them.
False. A flexier shaft will give you a whipping effect and the club head will move faster. Of course this causes your hands to get slightly ahead of the ball and it hurts your accuracy a little bit which is why people typically use steel shafts for their irons.
just read that article, you can get graphite but the flex better be the right stiffness. but in general graphite shafts for your irons is like ridin on snowlerblades with a back pack.
i hit my friends raptures last year (just the irons) and they were so nice. i have callaway x18s right now and love them, but these were real solid. He had the steel shafts so its not the same exact clubs, but they are real nice. I'd say go for it, i mean i dont like graphite irons at all just because they seem to noodly for me, but one thing it would do is give you more of a rhythmic swing then a power swing, which would def be nice to be a little more consistent once you got used to it
yeah its pretty much all personal preferance. I personally don't like graphite on anything but woods and drivers. With graphite on irons I lose to much control because they flex more. if you like the feel of them however go for it. Just ask to hit a couple of balls before you buy them. You should be able to get a general feel for whether you like the clubs or not. You will have to do minnor tweaking to your swing after you buy them tho. But golf swings are so unique that what kind of irons you have and the flex and type of shaft that you have is all just what you personally like.
I have a graphite iron set. Personally I don't like them. I feel that unless I get a perfect connection with the ball I fuck it up big time. If I hit the ground at all I can tell the club flexes a little bit and I usually duff the shot, super annoying.
the fact of the matter is its not the club that usually causes problems. its the person swinging them, although in some cases the wrong flex or head angel/offset or not can really fuck shit up. so all you gotta do is ask a pro at any decently legit golf course to watch you hit a ball or two and ask him if its the right club. dont buy them unless you try em first.
if ur any good then no, it will fuck up ur shot making abilities, feel, length, control. but if u really r just an ok golfer, from which is seems from ur lack of knowledge, 90s or higher than it really doesnt matter
yo try callawaypreowned.com there might be a dash in there somewhere i forgot, but its basically just an indirect classified site for used calaways that rates all the clubs conditions, why pay full price for new ones when you can get barely used ones for half the price? you could probably get some x18s or 16s on there for real cheap, a few of my friends have used the site for irons and they are all great, the x's are really really nice.
yo matt i talked to the guy on TGR, he said its just a pic he found on google, i wouldnt go with graphite on your irons, your swing speed is too high. but hes gonna check to see if theyre grphite or steel, but i have a feeling theyre fake, case he said theyre unopend, and an unopened set of repture iron's alone goes for 1k. so they are probs fake.
and this kid hit 300+ yard drive on the regular, straight down the middle.
haha yea man ive just never really looked into graphite shafts before, hence the thread. i was just mentioning it because it seemed like such a legit deal and i desperately need new irons. thats all. and im actually pretty good. mid 70s usually
I just picked up a pair of Taylor Made RAC OS 2's from golf galaxy for 299$...they were 3-SW and they have stiff iron shafts on them and i love them....they dont really look like an oversized head and they have great distance and are really forgiving...im not sure what type of brand you like but what do you usually shoot on 9 or 18 because a blade might work for you
it all depends of what type of swing you have like myself my swing is really hard and i can get graphite shafts to snap in half ha so i always just get steel rifle shafts. but if ur swing isnt really strong not like ur bad at golf but if u just dont swing as hard graphite is the way to go
Thats not completely true, the pros that use blades are among the elites like Tiger, Vijay, Sergio. And the thing about blades is that they take more skill but when you use them right they have way more control than a regular iron whereas regular iron is more forgiving and cannot shape shots as well.
if you like mallets, ive got a taylormade menza rosa(i think?) with agsi on the face. its really nice, super smoth roll and easy to line up. if you like a regular style, anser style. check the ping redwood series, they are the cat's meow. if i ahd more that $8 in my bank account id buy one.
Yeah i agree with you but i have the ping s59's and love them. As far a being picky for clubs i am also really picky, for example i got the original r7 quad 400cc and i love it. I dont even think about getting the new ones because they are too big and i like the smaller head of my old r7, and along with that i have my special fujikura speeder shaft which is tour stiff ( i cant hit anything with any type of flex)
damn thats a classic you got. if i were you id check out the ping redwood line, if you ahvent already. tehy are so smooth, and have tons of head shapes to chooose from. but hey ren about $300 a putter.
wellll i used to have graphite shafts, it all depends on your swing speed, and your expeirience, if you are a pretty good golfer, you probably dont want them, and if your swing speed is high you probably dont want them, i mean that is a REALLY good deal, but i dont know, the driver and woods are SICK as hell, soo i dont know, you just gotta try em, some people like em, i prefer steel shafts
never played graphite shafts, but i got some new irons with project-x 6.5 shafts in them near the end of last season and i'll never play a different shaft now, they are the best thing that ever happened to my game...
it depends on your swing speed...if you swing slow they might be ok for you...if you have been playing for a number ofyears and have a higher swing sped and want to shape your shots more you will want a stiff steel shaft...
