thinking of making a summer setup and found 2 12 foot rods of galvonized steel that are hollow and possible to screw to wood. just wondering how well galvonized steel would slide, if it slides at all?
if you're going to weld it get mild steel. Galvanized gives off toxic fumes when you weld it (but it can be done) if its not going to be welded use galvanized so it doesn't rust
I'm not welding the steel so yeah the toxic fumes doesn't matter. Does galvanized slide just as good as regular steel that's painted (like at a resort)?
galvanized steel is just bonded through electrolysis with a thin zinc coating. It will still slide fine but it wont rust and it will still maintain its strength. Also theres no paint to chip off so the rail wont rust over in paint chips
