Honey beer thread

step one: open beer
step two: pour honey in it
step three : consume

the thread was to brew beer with honey

wow that actually sounds dank though anyone try just putting honey in beer? if I run into some honey tonight i'm tryin it.

Prickly Pear Mead! I've got some going right now, cannot wait for this stuff.

This is what I followed, from another homebrewers experience:

"I made a mead on August 26th in which I used 22 pounds of wildflower honey and the juice of a good number of prickly pear cactus fruit. Basic recipe was as follows:

22 pounds of wildflower honey from Rudy's (apiary here in Texas)
2 grocery bags of prickly pear cactus fruit

Process:
Blanched prickly pear fruit in boiling water for half a minute. Moved to a large pot where we smashed them with a potato masher. Added 2 gallons of filtered water to this and brought to a boil. Boiled for 15 to 20 minutes and then poured mixture into a muslin bag over another pot and put into a wine press. Pressed as much juice out as possible to obtain, which amounted to 2.5 gallons of juice...more or less. Heated up a gallon or so of water, added juice and honey until mixture amounted to 5.5 gallons and temperature was around 145 to 150 degrees. Kept this temperature for 30 minutes and then let cool until I could move it to a sanitized carboy for fermentation.

Fermentation:
Pitched two packages of Premier Cuvee yeast into it.

After about 3 weeks in primary, fermentation had ceased, so I moved it to secondary and kept it there until November 23rd. "
