get a play boat if you only plan on doing rivers, whitewater parks, anything up to class IV pretty much. If you get into creek boating get a creek boat.
Duckies (inflatable kayaks) are more user friendly and allow you to carry more gear (for extended trips if you dont have a raft to carry all the gear.

oh you're 6'4'' so a play boat might be a little cramped.
generally creeks have more than class II and III, at least where im from, plus II and III class rapids are pretty easy.

just get an all river type boat...like river play...but not as small as a stricly hole/wave boat...i know riot makes some... u might squeeze into a turbo 52...dagger makes too i think...like a mamba 8.5 will fit you nice...umm liquidlogic like a remix 79....wavesport makes an EZG 60 that u might have a lot of fun with on class II or III rapids...

if your just looking for something to mess around in, at low cost, get something like a old town otter. its nice and roomy, but its short enough to get into some class 2&3's, but still can be paddled a good distance on flat water. the only disadvantage to a boat like this would be decreased performance, and a less durable, thinner bottom, but i guess it really depends on how much you want to spend, and what you plan to be doing.
