not open to public, mostly just shoots and friends as of now. people in the area wont let them get lifts, so thats the reason. http://www.eclipsesnow.com
probably not, if the town doesn't accept it then it doesn't happpen, if you really want it, get 300 people to move to Alice and shift the town meetings.
Year round would be so fucking sick. A lift ran year round resort would be awesome. They would make bank over summer rather than winter. If thats where the old St. Mary's used to be, the road up their is damn treacherous in the winter / no parking. 1.2k Vertical for being just passed Idaho Springs is sick!
the two lifts are planned as of now, and i wouldn't exactly say the "old st mary's," just were there used to be a lift back in the day, as st. marys alice hasn't exactly moved. i dont know if they'd be able to be open year round either, but definitely longer than anyone else.
a summer park would be sick. they could have some kind of COC or momentum type thing going down up there. is the glacier still there and skiable right now
talked to a local when i was up there the other day. he said it is going to be a minimum of three years right now, i guess the biggest hurdle is that if they open the ski area would be responcible for upgrading the road which is obvously really expensive
those pictures are not from this year are they? i was pretty sure there
was more snow than that. there was a lot of snow up there this weekend.
maybe like 3/4 of a mile, but very suncupped, some rails at the top. sick!
even if those pics are from this summer, there's still a huge vien running way up from that point, with a pretty perfect slope for a rail line. Also, when you groom daily, it helps pack and preserve the snow much longer. There's definitely enough snow there for a summer to last through august, just a matter of getting a lift, a decent road, and the money to back all that up.
ye those pics are from last thursday. a week ago today. Thats just the start of it. It still goes way back into the mountain. Bad weather came in and I didnt want to chance going all the way up. but yea, its from this season. a week ago.
