In before:
Too gangster
Not enough crazy spins and huge gaps
Trying too hard to be steezy
Not PROGRESSIVE enough (ie no double flips)
You're so gay all you ever do is hate why don't you just skateboard if you hate skiing
FUCK YOU MIKEE I HATE ALL YOUR POSTS

that could be said for any given skier too...what do we have to "learn" from this skateboarder?? Style is individual. Just because you like this one kid's style on a skateboard means that the whole skiing community should adopt it and "learn"?? I'm not sure i get your argument man.

I'm not syaing we should all skate like him, or ski like him.
Im saying hes sick cause he a) is flowy, has a style that just like oozes STEEZE, that doens't mean that his style is the definition of steeze, it is just a style that is steezy as fuck. If you dontknow what steeze is its hard to describe. But lets just say... Mark Frank Montoya, Jamal Smith, Mickael Dessch and Pollard all have it, but all their STYLES are different.
b) he is creative and pushing the sport in cool directions.

agreed. unless you know the kid how do you know what his "natural" style is? this mikee kid just sits around and dogs on shit. it is getting extremely lame.

but like obvisouly I dont cause I post videos of people who are straight up sick and I explain why they are sick and I explain what is not so sick about skiing, and its legit and like if you dont wanna hear it that kinda sucks but you shouldnt get angry if I want to express it.

i'm not getting angry at all. i just don't get the point of the thread and how it's all that relevant to skiing. I get that you like this skateboarders style. it's personal preference, and i think your thread title is misleading when saying that skiing can "learn" something from this.

I wasnt actually referring to you about getting angry. I am down with your post and stuff. But I really do think skiing has something to learn from this.
It can learn that a)tricks dont have to be about double flips and 10000 spins to be new and sick and progressive, they can be like crazy tech variations and just cool ways to make tricks FRESH. Jamal's skating is FRESH.
This guy I was with today that I had never met and I was skating with, I brough tup Jamal and he was like yeah, THAT KID IS FRESH. ANd I was like yes!
So I think skiing can learn to be more fresh.

if style is individual why is it so tough to tell the difference between pro skiers
it's because they are, for the most part, robots
and robots are all programmed the same way

damnn..maybe it's just me, but i dont think it's tough to tell the difference between pro skiers at all really.

i don't feel like starting one of these huge crazy debates with ns because some you guys are so stubborn and because i'm bored of it, but
i'm sure that if you dressed all of our dearest pros up in the same brands/clothes to take away visual cues and sent them off a jump, telling them to do, say, a 9 mute
you would have a lot of trouble telling them apart

i doubt it different skiers do tricks waay differently. and if you let them do their own shit. i would know olenick from his misty 5. sammys flat 3. jons flat 5. dumonts cork 3. etc.

i think u spend too much time trying to teach everyone about what skiing should be and all that jazz...not everyone is about 10000202020 spins and that shit so just relax, dont worry about everyone else just have fun.

you know mikee i've been reading a lot of your comments in various threads and i think your opinion is really on point. i know the sort of style you're talking about. it's my favorite style too, and i feel like i don't see nearly enough of it these days. with regards to this video too, i don't skate and i never had heard of jamal smith, but i definitely see what you mean about his style... fresh!
with that said though, i don't think that simply being vocal about the style you dig will actually make a change in the skiing world. nor do i think that a serious change needs to be made. i'm not the happiest with the direction things have been going in skiing either, but i think that the best thing a person can do is just ride the way that he or she likes. in other words, BE the style that you dig!
skiing will always be home to the individuals movers and shakers! there's no need to worry about that. big spins and tech will always get people paid, and real artists will always be underappreciated in their own time, even in skiing. but if someone is really skiing for him or herself, that shouldn't be an issue. and if style riders are really trying to make it in the industry, then they NEED the spin to winners to fill the mainstream and bring in enough money to support fringe efforts and collaborative film projects and the like.
so the point is, while i agree with you, i would rather live and let live. everyone can have their place and further their own conception of freeskiing. i know i won't be truckdriving any time soon... but if someone digs it, that's fine by me.

Mikee, I know exactly what you are talking about.
You have two problems though
first you aren't good at making your points and getting across what you mean
second you sound like a stuck up, self prasing asshole.
Work on those two things and people might listen to what you have to say.
good vid.

wow this guy is so on point.
The only reason I do what I do on NS, ie make my opinion very vocal, is cause it's fun lol.
I dont ACTUALLY care really that much what people are doing, cause like you said, I ski the way I like, and I am stoked on what I am doing and what my friends are doing and its great!
ANd you are right, to each his own and its all good, and there will always be spins and comps and such...
I just figured maybe some people could come to see the OTHER side of skiing, and I also have fun hating on people lol.

I think the thing people need to realize is that when I say shit like WOOOOOOOOOOOW THAT WAS GAY, or like OMG AFTERBANG FTW, it doesn't mean I hate you, it just means I have an opiniion and I think its more fun to express it like that. I do it IRL too to my friends who do things that are funny. Its just fun.
Its not like WOW IM SO PISSED OFF AT YOU AND I HATE YOU AND YOU ARE RUINING MY SPORT YOU BITCH.
Its just like... WOW AFTERBANG FTW LOL

You guys really need to get of this kids back. I think we've already gotten the point across that he isn't the best at explaining things, however, he made a good point. A lot of people have a cookie cutter steeze. Sometimes it looks forced, other times you can't tell anyone apart. But what Jamal and Bradshaw do is different, its not the standard steeze, they add their own element to the mix. I think what needs to be done is have everyone branch out and not copy everyone, have your own style. Don't force something to attempt to save it, it just makes everything look stiff. I think everyone needs to loosen up about perfect style because who really wants everyone to look the same when they do something? That makes everything boring

i think people understand what you are saying but listen to your argument. if you dont want people to all be the same telling them not to have a certain style is NOT helping. "Oh man you need to have your own style so you should not afterbang. Instead you should do this..."
doesnt make sense
