UHMW or HDPE: which is better

I am excited for my summer project which ironically is building a 10 foot by 1 foot box for next winter.
Heres my question, Should I use HDPE or UHMW. I hear that UHMW is way stronger and is self-lubricating and usually lasts a while, so to me it sounds like perfect.
But everywhere i look on NS all i ever see is "i'm using HDPE for my box"
So, which is better? I know UHMW is expensive, but if im gonna get better quality i'm gonna go for it.

Thanks.

you answered your own questions
UHMW is more $$$ and stronger
NSers buy HDPE, because it is cheaper but is still strong enough.
So, if you have the extra cash get UHMW, if you want a good box, on budget, get HDPE. get atleast 1/4" and your set

UHMW will slider faster. its a self lubricating compound. it's used for bearing slides, etc. that's what you want. I beleive I got mine from mc-master carr

Dont buy rails online, they are way overpriced and usually not very long. You are better off buying metal (or not) and taking to a welder and tell them what you want to do.

High-densite polyeurathane vs. ultra-high molecular weigh polyeurathane. (hdpe vs. uhmw-pe). The hdpe is a simply a harder, more concentrated substance (as far as molecule arrangement) than regular polyeurathane. UHMW-pe is a TYPE of hdpe that's got physically LONGER molecules, though not necessarily more dense. Pretty sure that's the physical difference between the two. UHMW is stronger, and a tad more expensive. it's what you see in the sidewalls of may of your skis.

Thanks for the help guys. I ended up going with UHMW (12 x 96 x 1/4) and it looks awesome. I'm building this weekend and i'll post pics when its all done. it'll just be straight, nothing crazy.
