what do you think is the best deal out there for a hd camcorder? whats a nice camera thats fairly easy to use for pretty cheap?

HV30. PS, if your filming for youtube or dvd, HD is a waste of time and harddrive space.

What's more important is getting a camera that will get you decent picture quality and that shoots in 30p.

30p means that it shoots 30 progressive frames per second. Most cameras (now less and less however) shoot at 60i which is 60 interlaced frames per second. I'm not going to take the time to explain this, but basically if you're shooting any kind of sports or fast action, you don't want this as it will cause blur and color bleeding.

24p will be okay, but you'll bet more clarity and flexibility with slow motion with 30p

thats my 2 cents. there's of course a lot more to a camera than just this, but these are some basic guidelines.
