im pretty sure the school revolves around skiing....like you have afternoon and night classes in order to ski in the mornings. ALL the resorts are really close!

I go there and they really are accomidating to winter sports athletes, the resorts are close and it ends up costing like the same as the U cause they do so much financial aid.

so there chill with competions and travel because ive been doing a ton of it? and is slc a fun place or does the mormon feel kill the "college vibe"?

the mormon feel def. doesn't kill all the parties. I have heard from other people that other colleges have some better parties, but we still have a lot of fun. once you know people its never hard to find a party, or something fun to do. plus. it's utah. if you are there for the parties, you're there for the wrong reasons!(although I know that partying is a plus).

Westminster is within like 30 minutes of PC or alta on any given day. the drive is nothing.

slc doesn't have the wildest or most abundant parters for sure, but it's still a good time and there are tons of fellow skiers out here so it's a pretty good time. As for skiing, pc, canyons, brighton, alta, snowbird, etc. are all within like 30-40 minutes from westminster campus. Not sure about the traveling for comps thing since I go to the U though, but I'm sure it's more flexible for skiing than almost any other college.

if you want to ski and go to college at the same time, salt lake is the place to do it. Westminster is about 30 mins away from PC and the cottonwood canyons. There is a huge ski culture here, so its real easy to meet cool people to ski with. The party scene isn't huge but there is still alot to do. bottom line is if you are looking to ski this school season, come to westminster or the u, take classes 2 days a week, and ski the rest.

Yeah i am about to graduate from there, its a way sick school. You can ski every day if you want and still take 16 credit hours

I wouldnt say the U is better.. its different. For me a big school didn't work. Classes of 300 people where you were just another face made me not attend classes which made my grades suffer. At westminster your biggest class will probably be 20 people and the teachr actually get to know you, which I feel helps academically. Also with classes that small it forces you to attend. But since it is a small school the same people are at every party... if you hook up with a girl about 5 other people you know have probably also hooked up with her, relationships are weird/tough because everyone knows. Its kind of like high schoolish in some ways. Like with my girlfriend sometimes it is kind of strange because she has said that she used to make out with a lot of people so like when she talks to a guy Im thinking "well hes probably made out with my girlfriend." But you get over it and its not a big deal.

I also have friends at the U which helps in the party scene. Getting out of the westminster scene for a little is always good.

Its a really winter sport / skier scene. Any given day going to get food you see a good amount of kids whoa re going to or who just got back from the mountain. No one takes classes on friday and everyone just skis and the advisors and shit understand that so you can schedule classes around skiing.

Personally I love the school, others have said different. If you can live with a small school atmosphere it is the school for you.

Park City resorts (PC, Canyons, Deer Valley) and LCC (Alta Snowbird) are about a half hour away. BCC resorts (brighton and Solitude) are a little farther away but still about 15-20 to the base of the canyon 13 miles later you are at those. Powder mountain and Snowbasin are a little over an hour away.

im looking into the winter at westminster program.  how is it?

i go there, i think its a pretty dope school... not the best on the party scene but whatever, im there to ride... the school aspect is pretty dope, like i got to know my teachers pretty well which is really a good thing when it comes down to grading or needing a little leanancy,... as for the winter at westmini thing, seems like a waste of money, you can do it on your own... its kinda like ski day camp it seems, but if thats your thing hit it up

Westminster is great.  Classes aren't to hard but its a good school and you learn a lot.  Your 30 minutes from all the mountains and W@W hooks you up with a canyons and a choice of alta or snowbird passes.  Great times and good experience. 

I am going to be a Senior this year, and will be applying. I took a tour there, and it is definately one of my top choices, like InfernoHits said. I am looking for small classes, because if this much money is being payed, I should go to class. IF there is a class of 300, I would just have someoene take notes for me and go ski, which kind of ruins the point of me going to college I guess. So yea Westminster is definately a top choice if I get in.




and about getting in. How good were your grades etc. (everyone that got in) this last junior I only had A's and B's. 3.4 something or something like that. and ya played sports, soccer captain, been in clubs, studied in Germany for 4 months, and other stuff that look good.....but I suck at testing (ACT, SAT). So I am getting tutoring, but still, how good were you guys in highschool?

yeah my sister is going there for next year, idk if every skiers scedule is different or not but she doesnt have any classes in the morning so she can ski, and then there is also public transportation like busses and apparently if u take the bus to PC or anywhere u get some kind of benefit i dont remember what though

I got a thing in the mail to study abroad there this winter.  Im not even gonna check it out cause we are on quarters and Id be missing 2 plus I dont know if they even have an engineering program cuase Ive taken all my GECs

Is the U of U or Westminster stronger academically?

again it depends the u at least at the entry level classes have 300+ students and as you get to more advanced classes they get smaller, at westminster you will never have a class over 30 and there is alot more student teacher time so the material tends to be harder
