reason is pretty heavily MIDI based. as i understand it ableton is much better for sampling, but reason is good for compositions, has a better workspace. i havent used ableton but ive seen plenty of people use it and theyre both sick programs, just depends on your approach and which one you're used to.
Reason is really dope for sampling if you use it with Recycle.
And you can use Reason along with Ableton(or Cubase, or Logic Pro, etc.) - using Rewire) because Reason is mostly like a huge collections of VSTis and Ableton is mostly a sequencing programm. Just type Reason Rewire in google and you'll have more explained details.
yeah yeah i hear that, i downloaded recycle but never got to really use it (computer stolen) I love reason cause it does just that, its basically an OS for all these different instruments that do so much stuff. can't wait to get back into producing, reasons a sick program, sooo much to learn from it.
hahaha yeah no kidding. you have a USB table or something? I've found lots of stuff just through torrent packs with redrum kits and stuff, but samples are always nice (much easier and faster too...)
I have my grandma's turntable I can plug with some kind of analog cable... for the other stuff I just search on the net .. I've found like 7500 drum sounds on demonoid.com it's sick but they're all akai or mpc drum machine stock sounds ... nothing beats a sampled bass drum and a sampled snare from a sick funk track
Reason kills on it's Vst setup. Reason's basically 90% of all my production work. I never really liked it's sequence set up though. I generally sequence in other programs. I love it.
