Skiing in college

im going to colege next year. for those of you in college how often do u get to ski? and what year r u?

I'm in my first year of college, and I would be able to ski every day if I had a car. As it is, I can ski at least 2 or 3 days a week and sometimes 7 days a week by bumming rides, hitch hiking and splitting cabs with people. Two factors are I haven't declared a major so I can take pretty much whatever courses I want to set up my schedule nicely, and the ski hill is a 10 minute drive from the college. The work load isn't as constant as in high school, but assignments take more time to do, so if you have good time management skills so you can finish your assignments before or by the deadlines, and you should be able to get as much skiing as ever in. Also its nice if you can get days or mornings/afternoons off during the week so the hill isn't as busy.

i get to ski usually 4 days a week, which i'm really glad about even if it isn't everyday. i have a class 2:30-3:45 twice a week, and just get up early and ride for as long as i can. then of course there's saturday and sunday. it works out well so that i can rest up every other day. if you budget your time right, and plan everything really well, then you can definitely get a really good season in while still balancing school.

I'm a junior. I try to ski 3 or 4 days a week. The skiing is nice, but the rest of my week is absolutely packed with classes/work/homework/etc.

i ski 2-5 days a week i live about an hour from the hill.  i always try to get my classes on two day a week

It really depends on what you're studying at school.  I'm in architecture and don't get to ski very often; the week leading up to a project due date never allows me to go ride.  Ideally you'll find something you enjoy studying that doesn't take up all your time, but we don't live in a perfect world.

I'm a freshman and I get to ski 4 times a week (most of the time with photographer and tmeels!!!). I dont have classes on tues/thurs so i go shredding, and I go on sat/sundays. mon/wed/fri I have 5 classes which kind of sucks,, but I get to go skiing everyother day so I'm not complaining. its been a great winter. it's great to ski during the week, so if you can setup your schedual like that then I definatly reccomend it.   oh yea I don't have a major yet. most of my classes are writing based, so I have a lot of papers. you just gotta stay focused and you'll have plenty of time to ski.

Im a freshman at CU but being engineering first semester i had a good amount of work and lacking a car its a struggle to find rides to mountains 2 hours away, i normally get 1 or 2 days a week, next year as im going out of engineering and will have a car im expecting 3 days a week

I go to uvm and I ski 5 days a week w/ F$T. Plus, we have a van so we dont have to worry about a ride to the mountain or paying for gas :)

I skied prob 70-75 days this year while taking a full time schedule at school. I probably could have skied more too if i really wanted to.

with my schedule this semester I got to ski 5 days a week. with classes on tuesday/thursday which has treated me well.

u guys are so lucky!!!!im stuck in 8th grade and i cant ski that much. in the week i try to ski every other weekend but its hard in the city.

ya im in my first year and yesterday was my 86th day of the season. So it you make time for it you can easy get a shitload of skiing done

It has been 2-3 days max for me, though next winter quarter im planning on taking less credits... but still I dont skip much class and the mountain isnt close enough to justify night skiing (stupid gas) so even with less credits I dont imagine it will be too much different next year.

It really all depends where you go and what your major is and how willing you are to ski.  This is my third year and its been different every year for me.  Freshman year I hardly ever went due to lack of car.  I was going to join the ski team here at Ohio State but it was more for racers.  I kinda wish I wouldve done it because that would have ment rides.  Since we are on quarters, I was able to easily take winter quarter off last year so I moved to colorado and made up the classes in the summer.  This year I dont have any classes I can take in the summer so I had to stay.  It kinda sucks that its an hour drive to a hill thats only 200 vert ft and its hard to get my roommates to come.  I probably only ended up going to the resort I got my pass at like 15 times.  But I went home a decent amount and skiied with my friends from highschool so with that and my trip out west I went like 32 days total.  Not as much as I had hoped but I got one of my roommates doing rails so I think he will want to go more next year.  O and the major makes a difference too.  Im an engineer and have had class everyday of the week but one of my roommates is in business and he only has class to days a week this quarter.  If I had a schedule and the amount of hw he does  I would probably want to go more because then I wouldnt have to go for evenings and nights only .

no shit, my season started off great, 3 times a week (I can't really skip class so this is amazing for me) and now I've only been up once in the last two months. Hopefully I can hit breck thursday, if I don't I may actually kill someone.

Don't do engineering kids, just don't do it :(

I hear ya man, thats why im transferring into business cuz them kids dont do shit, but if your going into college dont do engineering unless your really fuckin motivated in the area, otherwise its just not worth, im struggling to just got over 30 days this season

well ill be at 93 by brecks closing next sunday. it's all how you schedule and what types of grades you want. it also take a lot of commitment if you want to ski a lot and get decent grades. i have like a 3.4-3.5 and am in mechanical engineering. so it's possible. there are also tricks like figuring out which classes dont take attendance and have online HW.

I have scholarship shit where I basically have to graduate in 4 years, not really complaining (scholarship haha) but it definitely cuts into the ski time when you can't really schedule like you want to and just end up following the flowchart with class everyday, I have fridays off next semester though so that will be great early season, plus 3 day weekends every week :D.

yeah, my scholarship wasn't like that, and i have instate now anyway, which is cheaper and way more flexible. it all depends. but yeah, i should be only one extra semester if i stick with ME (not happy with it at the moment). but im also only a 2nd year student. oh and for reference my schedule is full took 18 credits last semester and 13 this one.

Yeah I'm in my 2nd semester of junior year so it would be retarded to switch now, not that I don't think about what life in business school would be like every day haha. I'm taking 17 credits this semester and for ME's at CU this semester is the toughest, you have to get all those theory classes out of the way so you can basically just work on senior design all senior year, that will be nice.

ME's nice and all but I have no idea what I'm gonna do with the degree, so far my only plan is to immediately move up to summit county and work a shit job all summer so I can save up enough to ski all winter hopefully jobless haha.

I got to ski 25 days this year, which is more than i've been able to before and this is the hardest semester of my life(im a 2nd year architecture major, so my life since november has been architecture, skiing, and a little sleep and a little partying). Skiing is 4-5 hours away and gas is expensive, so about every other weekend for me.
