why did steele leave atomic? the new atomic skis are sooo sick, and plus he was the heart and soul of the AFT. im sad now cuz now i cant pretend that im steele any more when im skiing.

Steel got offered a great business opportunity, to become a co-owner of 4FRNT, it's a tough call from a business perspective but he's young and can afford to take the risk. If 4frnt takes off and does well it could quite possibly be the wisest descision of his life, if it doesn't and, god forbid, it's a flop he's still young enough to cut his losses and keep going.

as for all the Atomic Sucks comments, just wait and see, that's all I can say. I've been with them for almost 4 years now and it's been 4 years of hard work between that athletes and the company, to get to where we are now, which in the 04/05 line is gonna be sick. Sure it's not a 'Core' Brand with super dope graphics, but there's more to a ski than it's paint job. The difference is, that our skis are actually skis, they're not just made for sliding rails and hitting the park, you can ski on them, the whole AFT line, right up to the Big Daddys can arc a turn in any type of conditions, (a guy here in Whis, Eric, rides Big's in the park and pipe too and he boosts) Trust me I've tried most other brands out there and there's not too many of them that can say the same.
Everone is entitled to their oppinion however don't form it based on the cosmetic appearance of a ski, base it on the performance.
And yes when you insult Atomic I do take it a bit personally since I, as well as the Rest of the long time AFT members, have basically designed all of those skis.

well i'm sure he has his own reasons. I mean yes he was the heart and sole behind the AFT and the Tweaks are sick but if you were steel would you stay with a ski company with a racing background OR jump ship to a rider owned/operated company dedicated to improving the sport.

Steel can do a lot more for the sport by riding for 4FRNT - mad props for him. Chances are he would have got more $$ at atromic but this shows he has a true passion for the sport and isn't in it for the money

hope i didnt come across saying atomic sucks cause they are good skis, and ive only seen this years tweaks out of the new line, they are probably the lightest skis i've ever felt

Baker Boy, I think that's Atomics Plan...And apperntly there making new better bindings, I remeber Rex saying something on that matter. Atomic do make sick skiing skis, no doubt, hopefully they will put out some good park products. It'll all denpends on what you want in a ski, and your riding style and were you ride, i know up that would have sex with atomic if they could and people who have tried them, and like other skis, better.

Yes the binding rumors are true, there's a slightly modified, lighter, version of the existing binding on the way as well as a park and jib specific binding that's gonna be way lighter.

BakerBoy:
As for the ski binding intigration, that's done after this season, the Tweaks have never had it, but starting next year the Stomp, Sugar and Big will all have a normal mounting platform, this was partially due to the complaints of being forced to use the Atomic Binding but mostly it was a weight issue. When it's all said and done we will have the lightest, Biggest, best 'skiing' skis out there.

well rex, i said 'chances are' implying that i'm assuming, but if your right and 4frnt is paying steel the same amount thats another positive for his move.

a racing background is reliable, but a rider owned company is going to push the technology and the sport furthur inthe direction that we want it to go in
