Looking to buy a digital camera this summer

Perferably an SLR.
I want a camera that has decently high FPS shooting (3 FPS is not decent, 6 or 7 is) since I want to shoot some action shots and make sequences. I'm also looking for a camera where I can leave the lense open for a significant amount of time to do blurs and timelapses.
I'm an amature photographer though so I'm not looking to drop 2000 on a camera. Any cheaper options for camera out there with those features?

You won't find a camera that can do 6fps for less than $1000. I think the closest to that is 5fps with the 30D. I have a D50 which is 2.5fps and it takes enough frames for me to make a decent sequence. You'll be able to set your shutter speed and exposure with any dslr.

go for the Canon 40d. 6.5 fps. I have a Canon 20d and its at 5fps and thats perfect. as for the lens, buy body only and get a nice lens, rather then the kit lens. Go for something like Canon 24-105mm L f/4.
