So this weekend I competed at the campus rail jam tour stop here at gonzaga in spokane Wa. The setup was pretty sweet actually, a little sketch with the left and right rails falling right off the scaffolding (you should see my back) and over all a well done comp however...
Somehow when the announcer announced first place skier he did so without the judging sheet in front of him and effectively "picked a number" awarding first to a skier (who did well and was fun to ski with definitely do not want to knock this guy he was having an off night) who never succesfully even slid the entire rail (at that point in the night the run in was just a struggle not to catch an edge or a burr on the carpet, which was now more than showing through the snow. The rail was also ridiculously sticky )
I mean after we show up at noon and spend the entire afternoon hauling snow and volunteering our aid to this tour, they got lazy on us and shorted me what my body tells me today that I earned. (anyone who was there saw the chunks of skin missing from my back, arm and shin)
Whats worse is that they refused to correct their mistake when both I and the awarded first place showed up to contest the results. They told me that they would have to charge me (as in money) to place an official complaint. I had to go to work and the prize money was only 40 bucks and some schwag (which joel actually split with me, really cool guy)
It just really pisses me off that after all the work and help we gave these guys, they got lazy and shortchanged us.
Anyways finals are in portland may 23, anyone else going?
