Musicians, I have a fun idea!!!

I was looking through some of my old threads from ways back. And there was one on people in bands. And I thought to myself... it would be great if I recorded something, like a guitar track, and sent it to, ummm, say Pat, or Teddy, or CTripper, or Kamikaze, or any of those guys that were in the post, and then they added something else and passed it on....and we could keep doing this till the song seemed finished. It would be a fun little project....It would take some time but.... could be fun, maybe even make a Newschoolers theme song... hahaha, what do you think? Anybody want to? It'll be our own little Postal Service!!! Coz, Pat, Kami, Teddy?????

derek, the blues are way fun to play on the harp, they are my fav style to just jam out to. and thanks to whoever said about the line in recording.

this reminds me of that episode of Doug where he starts a band and there's like three drummers and they all want a solo...and they have every other instrument...haha that was a good show

Derek, is that your own thing or just off the net somewhere? I'll try this off memory:

Stace: Triangle/Spoons
Lauren: Piano
Pat: Drums
xwarningx: Drums
Derek: Guitar
Mike: Guitar
Markd: Harmonica
Someone: Flute
Blinds/Anson: Trumpets (note: non-ska trumpeting)
Teddy: washboard and saw

There will be a special guest appearance too, already confirmed!



I can mix it all down in ProTools on my Mac.

How soon can we get a drum track?

Let's have fun with this.... not a blues song, more like a simple rock track that lets everyone kind of do their thing but is more or less something funny.... I'm going to add some sequencing, and just some different instruments to fill out the mix.... Like I said, we'll shoot for like 2 minutes, see how we make out.

Who is playing bass? I forget....ummmm, I'll get that going first, we'll get the bass, and two drummers, to decide on the main progression, then I'll start passing around the mix so you guys can all do you stuff....

i'm not sure how to start this... I guess lay down a simple base line, 4/4 time, a few minutes a long, give us like 4 bars intro, 8 bars for verses (vocals) 4 bars for chorus, 8 bars for verses, 4 bars chrous, 4 bars bridge to 4 bars verse....fade????

Does that work out Derek?

Okay... sounds good, jams are always fun. Well, you wanna throw down a bass line then? Something simple, and if you want, keep it within the same progression (to an extent) but go off on the bass with some runs or something, during the 24 bar part! What do you think?

ok, ill get on it. Ill write a bass line to it and put my guitar part on it. we can record our solos last. so i guess ill be rhythym guitarist and the other dude can throw licks and stuff on it to spice it up a bit. After mine, we'll add the drums, then horns/harp/triangle, then singing, than lead guitar. than we'll put on the solos. How's that sound?

yep yep.... thing's amazing... Strode, keep posting in here, when the song is closer to being finished, I was thinking maybe some sequencing would fit nicely in the background.... not sure yet, but maybe.....

Yo man, if you wanted I could record a phat drum track and e-mail it to you, my computers all set up to do recording. I can do some kind of funky hip-hop groove for a while, maybe change it up a little.... I'll record a couple times today and see how it sounds, eh?

i can play guitar... is it gonna be just like I, IV, V, IV? it should be... something simple... easy. it'd be generic, but still tight
