so im down in cali for the week and my rents may let me get a tattoo (im 16) they will let me if we can find a place that will do it even tho im not 18 or id just get it when we get home

but i was thinking either a pair of skis with a heart in the middle where they cross
or
a necklace with a cross if you know what i mean
any other ideas or input i know alot of people regret tattoo's but i couldnt with either of those skis rock and a cross is just legit

I personally believe that if you are asking other what tattoo you should get, then you are not in need of a tatto right now in your life.


I'm contemplating two tattoos possibly in my life, one of which I know I'm gonna get and that is a block O on my ass, the other might be my name or something else of great importance to be on my side of my stomach(yeah I know that is one of the most painful areas) in script

I don't think you should get a tattoo unless you already know exactly what you want and are not going to regret it (ever) which is why I will never get a tattoo on Spring Break (and trying to describe a block O to people outside of Columbus seems to be difficult for them to grasp sometimes)

Don't get a tattoo because it's "cool" or "legit."  Get it because it means something to you and you wan that symbolism with you for the rest of your life.  At 16 I probably would have thought a tattoo of skis would be cool, but right now I'm really happy I wouldn't get something that lame.  Not to rag on you or anything, but you probably wouldn't be happy with it a couple years down the road.  A tattoo is more of an thoughtful, symbolic thing, and you seem to be thinking of them as a way to brand something you like onto your skin.  You can tell someone you ski or that you're religious, but art is meant to speak so much louder than that.  I'd hold off for a while, do some sketches, and come up with something that's really meaningful rather than getting ink for the sake of it.

tats are dumb. sure they look cool but how long are they going to look cool for... i see people that have had a tat for like 10 15 years and they look so haggard. people say they are really cool an awesome art, ya its true but thats why they have paper and canvases for you to draw or paint on. dont be a hippster.

First, you should know exactly what you want and exactly where you want it. If you have to ask for opinions you shouldn't get anything

Second, that whole "with parents permission" thing is bullshit. YOU HAVE TO BE 18 TO GET A TATTOO. If you do find a shop that will do it, you probably wouldn't wanna get tattooed there.

no im pretty sure you can be there with a parent and get a tattoo. i know a bunch of people that have gone with parents to get them.

Maybe it's a state law or something, but in seattle everybody thinks you can get one with your parents permission which is completely false.

i used to live in seattle. i have plenty of friends who didnt get permission like bring a signed piece of paper. they went with their parents and got it right in front of them. i have at least 5 or 6 friends that all went to different places except 1.

i looked it up you are right. i dont think it matters if your parents even come with you. but i know a bunch that did and the guys were cool with it because like the people that would be pissed about an underage with a tat would be the parents and they would be the ones going after the business. i dont think a cop is going to hassle a kid about where he got a tattoo.

I spent almost 2 years coming up with new ideas and stuff for my extremely simple tattoo.

If you're really serious about getting one, keep sketching and thinking of new ideas. After a while you'll really get a sense of what you want, and you won't have to come ask newschoolers. And, if it really means something to you, then go for it. Fuck the haters.

yea dude, dont bother getting one, your only 16. when i was 16 i wanted to get a tatoo of skis too, now only 3 years later i realize that is fuckin gay. Only get a tattoo which has very significant meaning to you, i was thinking of getting some of the lyrics i a song tattoo'd on my side that remind me of my grandpa who passed away.. now thats posssibly worth getting, but dude just dont bother.
