Making a Rail- how long should it be?

So I'm making a box and a rail for the summer and I don't know how long I should make them. I was thinkin 16' since the 2x4's I have are 8' and it would make it easier if i didn't have to cut them. So ya, how long?

16 ft is perfect... as long as you can get enough speed and have enough room i wouldnt make anything smaller then 10ft though
