False Info...he said that X was definately a mainstay and in the future he may be doing more pipe comps other than X. Also Andreas has the the most technical run out of anyone but he really needs to take those tricks bigger. I his back to back 9s and everything else were 3 or 4 ft higher hed be a mainstay on the podium.

That doesn't make any sense.Â
He also does cork 3s off cliffs better than anyone else and makes ski movies better than anyone else, and ski movies are way more fun to watch than pipe comps...so I'd rather he just keep doing that. Â

Watching film is a lot more fun, but more of the general public sees X pipe than Believe.

Tanner DOES train. he spent his summer in nz pretty much doing pipe. Ryan said he was training somewhere else before x.
sure hes been out slaying pow, but its not like he hasn't put any effort into pipe and just rocks up and wins.

This thread is retarded. Have you guys not been paying attention at all this year or is it just the old "NS blinkered vision" coming into play again? Xavier Bertoni has only been mentioned once so far, the same goes for Kalle Leinonen and AJ Kempainen. These guys are on a different level to the other would-be-contenders mentioned so far. And don't forget Kevin Rolland to come back next season- he qualified 3rd for X pipe finals...
With that in mind, next year pipe will be dominated by:
Existing big names:
Tanner
Simon
Colby
Andreas
Riddle
Jossi
But with this season's breakouts mounting a major challenge to the status quo.
Kalle Leinonen
AJ Kempainen
Xavier Bertoni
Kevin Rolland
Justin Dorey
I guarantee that nobody outside of that list podiums at any major pipe comp next year. Oh yeah, Olenick won't podium in any comp next year.

Jossi an Byron Wells are going to come back to the states next fall and blow it up. Jossi was already beating Simon on a regular basis at the end of the season and he has his eyes set on Tanner. He will be training pipe all winter in NZ. At the WSPC in Park City he was clearly the best. And I think with a summer of training he will be all over Tanner.

i fucking hope not, never before has someone done so well in the pipe with such little style (peter) take away the whiskey flip and your left with very little. its all subjective though
tanner is the best pipe skier the world has seen, doesnt matter how many comps he turns up to, the ones he does compete in he nearly always wins, and rightfully so. Dumont will always be near the top because he draws the crowds with ridiculous amplitude. for someone who knows relatively little about skiing, dumont is exciting to watch
so as long as tanner and simon are around, pipe will remain theirs

Tanner will continue to to win as long as he wants to. It's that simple.

no, as far as backcountry stuff goes, Tanner isn't the hands down best.
He is pushing that side of the sport, no denying that.
But he's on a whole other level in the pipe.
It makes perfect sense.

Dorey
Riddle
Jossi
Kalle
Hayward
Solberg
Kempainnen
Rolland
Bertoni
and depending on how their rehab goes...
Vanular
Phillipi
Any one of those names could be a threat for next year.
Tanner is unbelievable, but not unbeatable. He generally wins the comp by outshining everyone in training, and then the judges put him into an untouchable score category, so he simply has to land a run to win. There are a lot of guys on that list who go as big, have as much style, and are just as tech (or more so). Tanner has the consistency and the persona that simply makes everyone think that he is the one to beat, but his pipe run is well within reach for some of these up and comers.
Dumont has been getting beat by some of those guys already this year (48 straight, World Superpipe Champs), so you know he is within reach too.
All times are Eastern (-5)
