i dont think he should be allowed to buy sportscars for 5 years, and pay for all the damage, and become a big brother.

ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta Thrashers forward Dan Snyder died Sunday night, six days after he was involved in a horrific car crash with teammate Dany Heatley.
Snyder of Elmira, Ont., died in hospital from massive brain injuries without ever regaining consciousness, the team said.
Police said Heatley was driving his Ferrari at about 130 kilometres an hour on a narrow two-lane road last Monday night when he lost control, spun off the road and smashed into a brick and wrought iron fence.
The car split in half. The players were thrown into the road.
Heatley already was facing several charges, including a felony

i think a lot will depend on whether or not his bac was legal. they keep reporting that the police are waiting for results. i am not trying to offend anyone, but i have always had a problem with sober people being charged for vehicular manslaughter after killing a passenger. extenuating circumstances and exeptions aside, if it was really an accident, then offer condolences, take their liscense away and send them to driving school. putting them in jail for years seems a bit extreme to me. however, if the driver was impared in any way or any other reason he would have crashed (i.e. something other then jsut his driving caused the accident) then throw the book at them.
just my thoughts, and condolences to the family and friends of the two men.

He was doing 130km/h. That is irresposible! We're all guilty of speeding, but there is consequences, some more harsh than others. The guilt of killing his friend is alot of punishment in itself. Forget that he's a hockey player and then make a decision..... He should go to jail!
yeah if he was drunk then he needs to be punished someway. all in all its gotta be pretty hard to deal with the fact that you killed a friend. i feel bad for him partly.
heatly deserves jail time! fuck his hockey skill and being the next gretzky BS. put him in jail. his recklessness led to the death of an apparent friend. just horrible

It was 3-15 years if he goes for the plea bargain of 2nd Degree vehicular homicide. He is most likely going to be charged with 1st degree. That sucks for Snyder, Heatly deserves to go to jail for along time.
i think losing a friend to an accident like that is punisment enough. it could happen to any one of us. put yourself and your best friend in a ferrari, yeah I'll bet you'll be driving fast and dont say you wouldnt. It was a freak accident lay off. If one of my friends killed me at the wheel, I wouldnt want them to go to jail. You can bet Snyder wasnt saying 'oh please slow down'. most of you are sick vultures.

Obviously they were friends, slim chance they'd be out driving together if they weren't. Heatley wouldn't purposfully try to do something to kill his friend, no one would. Dealing with a death of any kind is hard to deal with, exspecially if you are laid with the guilt of causing it. Regardless of the fact that he's hockey player, I don't think he deserves jail time. The guilt is punishment enough. If he was drunk, yes that was a dumb move but he still wouldn't have been trying to kill Snyder. And from the looks of it, it doesn't seem as though Snyder was restraining him from driving drunk (if he was).

If only life were simple and people didn't have to go through shit like this.
Heatly was partly responsible for a friend's death. Fully responsible if he was drunk or high. Should he go to jail? Maybe, but it's not as clear cut as some might think if he wasn't intoxicated. We all know how these things start. 2 young kids with lots of money, in a ferrari, egging each other on. 'Yo man, how fast do you think you can take THIS corner, you took the last one at 120...' Any of us who drive have probably been in a similar situation(minus the ferrari and the cash), and we've probably done something just as stupid as what Heatly did, but got away with it for some reason. I wish everyone involved the best, because it won't be easy for them.

Hi, I'm John, John Bond
i think it was a football player who accidentally killed his friend and fellow team mate in a car accident and the whole season he had this weird look in his eyes said his coach and then later that year he killed himself. i can't imagine being responsable for killing my friend. it would be one of the worst feelings ever. i can't imagine what heatly is going through.
mah baby's got sauce, your baby aint sweet like mihne
snyder could of been responsible enough to tell him to slow down though, what if he was saying go faster go faster, theyd both be at fault and no one to really blame

I dont care ferrari, egging on, snyder's ability to get him to stop or not. it was a narrow two lane road. 130 on a highway or rural road is one thing, but in a populated area is just stupid. heatly may be a good player but he deserves jail time. I think he should spend next season in jail and then finish his sentence once he turns 40

nobody forced Snyder into the car, his choice, his consequences. everybody wants to blame someone else. ANY time you get in a car, any time you leave the house there is the potential to die, you dont sit in basement hiding. you are young, you got a fast car, you drive it fast, you get unlucky, you deal with it, its nothing that should land anyone in jail. freak accident. boys will be boys.

Pretty sure it wasnt his fucking choice to have his Heatly drive like a mad-man and crash his car going 90mph. PRetty sure he didnt shoose to go int oa coma and die a few days later. Pretty fucking sure!

Hi, I'm John, John Bond
Heatley probably feels just as bad as Snyder's family. How do you think it would feel, one day your an amazing upcoming hockey player with everything you could ever want or need. A couple days later your in the hospital after multiple sugeries, one of you best friends is dead and your being charged with homicide. If he wasn't drunk than I dont think he should go to jail, he already has to live the rest of his life knowing he killed one of his best friends. His whole life is just fucked up now. I don't think he should go to jail.
90, my dad drives faster than that on occasion, my brother drives that fast and several of my friends drive that fast (not you tom).
