quick question, can cell phones be tapped or is that only possible with lan lines.

They can trace them, I don't know about tapping them. If you want anonymity with a cell phone, buy a really cheap "Pay as you go" phone. That way it just has a number and no name associated with it and you can buy like the $5 call cards for them.
