what will the best time be this year to hike Tux? Will it still be hittable in mid-late May?

its best in mid april. last year i went on like april 20th and i skied all the way to the parking lot at pinkham. there was complete coverage everywhere it was sick

i went during the middle of march last year when the avi conditions were good and it was way better than when i went in late april because there was powder instead of wet, heavy snow.

im goin around may 8-11 timeframe, possibly also in mid april becuase i wanna ski down the trail all the way to pinkham instead having to hike down


we should have an ns booter sesh, or just an ns hike and rip sesh

never been before....definitely planning on going...that cliff in the center looks fuckin sick, anyone hit it or got any good vids or suggestions as to when it would be best to hit it?

i never hit it before, but i have seen people wreck themselves going off it. when you fall on a slope that steep, you dont stop for a few hundred feet.

it doesn't seem like anyone's been keeping track of the avy forecast on here. tuckermans has gone through a shitload of freeze-thaw cycles in the last week and it's expected to continue. they're expecting bulletproof faces and corn snow this weekend.

save yourself the trouble and keep up on the advisory. you don't wanna get up there and find garbage snow.

hiking's fine when the avy advisory says this...

Break out the beach chairs and sunblock. We have a very nice stretch of weather for the foreseeable future. Sunny skies and the warmest temperatures we have had this season will be sure to provide some sloppy spring conditions over the next few days. While sunburn, heat exhaustion and snow blindness are considerations today, there are some bigger issues you need to be aware of.

it was really good like a week ago. should be good for a while i should think. whoever hasnt done it...its definitely worth the hike! such a gorgeous and fun bowl at the top! :)

last year my dad and me went up to tux on july 7th and it was nasty.  there was three lines that were ski-able and it was sick.
