you can glue it on with liquid nails. thats a lot of glue though, and not as sturdy as screwing. with PVC i drilled through both top and bottom. it worked but the holes in the top were weak spots, but it slid fine. ive hear of people drilling up from the bottom through the board, thus making no hole in the top of the PVC, does that work?

i have 3 pvc rails thathave lasted the season and i secure the pvc by making a little basket type deal with 2x4's....its hard to explain but theres wood on both sides of the rail that got up half way on the width of the pvc with a support piece below it then i screw screws from both sides and underneath

drill a small plank to the bottom, and then drill that plank into your base. that way there are no screws in the top

i built a bmx quarter pipe recently and to make th coping i used pvc. but like i drilled holes in one side of the pvc and then stuck screws through to the inside of the opposite side and screwed them in so that the heads of the screws were holding the pvc down but they werent out on the top......im not sure if that made any sense.
