Need skis for a fat kid

Yo, so my friend is a snowboarder, he's a good boarder, rides a lot of pow and a little park.  He wants to get some skis for next year and start skiing.  He's 5'8 260 lbs.  Ya I know, he's a big kid.  He's never skied before but I'm sure he will pick it up fast so these skis need to be able to still be a good ski for when he gets better.  Probably looking for a one ski quiver that is good in the park.  He mostly rides Baker. 
Normally I'd be able to recommend skis easily but for a kid who's that heavy and that tall I'm really not sure.  I know it should be a pretty stiff ski in any case and around 175+ in length.  I was thinking maybe Gotamas but they might be too unforgiving for him since he's new. 
As for bindings I think he should be good with a 12 or maybe a 14 din binding.

he could probably pick up some ninthward firstbloods for not too cheap on the internet somewhere. those should be stiff as fuck because they're 9's, and they have a decent width as far as a one ski quiver with some park. just a thought, i've never skied em

the line anthems or invaders might be good, they have an a\elliptical sidecut like snowboards do, so there is a similar turn radius. check them out at lineskis.com

PEs are good for all mtn skiing and can atke some jumps, im assuming hes not gonna bee able to spin/do rails all taht good right away. so they could be good, and they are stiiff as hell

a 5'8 260 kid will rape the invaders or anthems, softest skis ever.  id say go for the MSPs, but if youre going line, check out the chronics, theyre pretty stiff.

line blends would be perfect for him...real big strong ski....good in park and next years blends will be fatter, so they will be great for powder.

Prophet 100's.....I'm 5'10, 195-210 (pending when) and I've got Prophet 90's in a 186, and they fuckin slay shit.  Nice flex pattern, not ridiculously heavy, but certainly stiffer than the majority of shit on the market.  I'm from midwest, so for me the 90 is perfect, as I only get out to the mountains 1-2x year.  If he skis mostly pow, I'd get him to go with the 100, as it'll kill it all over, period.  As long as he's not destroyed rails, cause at that weight, he'll literally fuck up any ski, dude needs Jenny Craig if he wants to do that.

for the love of god do not put his bindings on 12-16. ignore 99% of binding advice on NS infact. im only qualified with salomon and tyrolia bindings, but i know for both of these you go for the binding recomended for his lowest catagory , the 2 catagories (for want of a better word) are height and weight. just because your mates a lardy bastard doesn't mean he should have the same setting as seth morrison. go to a shop and find out. if he has problems with releasing, then , and only then start gradually putting his settings up. otherwise your friend will have new skis and no knees.
your friend sounds like he needs head mojo 90s. one of the best skis you will come accross, a width that will do it all, an awesome ski, and pretty damn stiff, will shred park,off piste and is awesome at carving groomers. also skis surprisingly brilliant switch even when mounted back, from my personal experience.

people that dont know what the hell is going on need to stop trying to recommend shit. in 2 cases in this thread alone there are people trying to tell him to get the exact opposite of what he needs.

invaders? are you kidding? im only 160, and i would absolutely dominate them. who knows what would happen with this kid that is 260 pounds. and arv's? come on now, they may not be as soft as invaders/anthems but they are pretty damn soft.

so to the kid i quoted and the kid that recommended invaders, please; never ever try to suggest anything to anyone ever again

I was thinking for mostly park and since he hasn't skied before it might be better to have a softer ski than the MSP. But you're right, I am just going by what I have heard, so I shouldn't have made a recommendation.

watch the video of the ski, youtube it or something, and watch some reviews from skis.com

it seems these skis are for huge impacts and can handle it, yet are cheap enough and all mountainable for  a beginner with potential.

seriously though, im 6'2 220, are the anthems too soft for me??? and if your 'buddy' has a white jumper, he may close the mountain down for avalanche sighting.. cross country may do him better, but he may still need chrons with alpina binders

Find an older pair of Karmas, or some 9thward firstbloods. Stiff as balls, and unbreakable skis.

PE's wouldnt be bad either.

I weigh like 40 pounds less than the dude hes talking about and i slay anthems every day i ski park, they are not too soft.


But for an all mountain ski/beginner park ski either the mojo 90s, msp, or maybe some chronic blends, or maybe even some king fugas? pretty soft tho.

from line... prophet 100s for more freeride, 90s or blends if mixing in some more park.

from head... mojo 90s kill everywhere

from volkl bridges would be sick

and from rossi bc's/brigades/s5

the latter two are a bit more expensive, but kill it all mountain and still work fairly well in the park.

Yes! I would recommend Line Blends or the prophet 90/100 depending on what he wants. In a long length. Hes a huge guy. And their relatively stiff ski.

I'd put up another vote for Firstbloods, they are pretty stiff and probably not too expensive.

Although, at 155 lbs for me on a heavy day, they work like crud busting, slam through anything and everything charging skis, add another 100 pounds and they're probably a bit more like ARV's... which would be sweet, it's just a funny thought.

Prophet 90's or prophet 100's
PE's
Blends

He's gonna wanna shred pow, and ride park so I'm thinking maybe prophet 100's just cause he will be strong enough to throw them around in the park, and they will float in pow, and are stiff enough to rip all mtn. and groomers really easily, and I've skied them and love them.

Thanks for the help guys, keep any advice coming, and thanks  a lot Lyndon for the offer, I'll be sure and ask my friend tomorrow.

If you were to set his bindings correctly, you would ignore the fact that he is a fatass, and set them according to his height.  Thats the standard procedure.  chances are he will be able to step out of them.

ha as far as ive seen all pow skis are fairly soft,  and since the kids a beginer he dosent need some 115mm waisted ski, he needs a good carver that he can take to the park as he progresses, i.e. Pe's, or prophit 90/100's
