What are some good resorts in america which have good terrain, and good nightlife, and where the lifts and stuff go up from town, and not too expensive. And yes i've tried searching. Im thinking somewhere like snowbird/Alta, vail, mammoth but don't really know much about any of them. It needs to have a lot of snowfall as coming from NZ i dont get the chance to ski a lot of powder. I probably want somewhere reasonably big so it has a good party atmosphere/night life.
Well I don't know if Snowbird or Alta have great nightlife but the terrain is epic and if your staying up there, you could get to the pow real quick and early. I also know that Jackson or Targhee could be sick with their terrain. But honestly, if you can afford the Euro, go to Europe. Chamonix has the best terrain I have ever skied or looked at for that matter, the night life is dooope, and... its Europe. I know Switzerland and Austria both have epic terrain and night life as well. Though it could be tough with the exchange rate between the Euro and the New Zealand dollar.
snowbird/alta are in a canyon with virtually no developement other than the resorts so not much nightlife there. Park city has a town lift and more night life. If nightlife is a big factor I would have to recommend colorado.
if your willing to sacrfice the night life factor i would either go to utah or jackson hole or you could do both. granted its quite a bit of driving but its only 5 hours and it fast roads but jackson hole and utah get pretty regular snowfall for example last year was sub par but this year was really good
Squaw Valley in CA is amazing. Great terrain, we just had an amazing season for snow, and the park is mint. There are basically cliff drops off of every single lift that isnt green. Definitely a must visit. There's a reason why Shane McConkey says that he would rather ski a pow day at Squaw than anywhere else in the world. Did I already say the park is mint?
