okay i got my 5's down and i was working on switch on smaller jumps to get the feel for switch. just the other weekend i was working on switch 1's to get the feel of hitting a big jump switch. and i got that down. but i am afraid that if i start the rotation to soon then i will catch an edge and eat some shit, so i start rotating for the 180 midway through im in the air. what should i do so that i can land the 540 but not catch an edge on the jump?
learn switch 3's first, then just keep stepping it up
and dont pop too early off the kicker, it helped me to watch videos and look at the timing and stuff, now switch is eaier than regular for me
get comfortable with floating cab 3s.. then u wont have to worry about it , do the same thing but wind up a lil bit and come into the lip knowing you are going to whip a bit more and go blind for a sec over your shoulder you'll pass 3 and spot for 5 before you know it .
first learn switch 3's solid make sure your poping SUPER hard. Then add a little more wind up into the equation and really insivion it and commit to doing it. Invision landing forward again and commit to it and its a cake walk. ohh annnnd
step two: set a little harder than a switch 3, not much though cuase youll go squirrelly in the air, and once you get to 180 just spot like you were doing a regular 3, dont overthink it, just pop, and once youre into the start of the spin bring your head around to spot the 5, should feel just like a forwards 3 once youre in the air. dont think about spinning faster or harder, just think about spotting around to land forwards.
i did have switch 3's dialed before i tried a switch 5, its just i dont think about things like when im going for a new trick, i just think get the rotation now worry about the landing when it comes up, it works sometimes others it doesnt
when i learned them i sort of just thought of it like going from switch into a 3. you pretty much have to look the same way as a three. i think other things that really helped are to be low going into the jump so you can get a good pop. and set the rotation with your arms, then let your legs start rotating once they are in the air.....also for me, im more prone to start the rotation to early when im still on the jump when im scared, so its nice to be really comfortable with the jump you are learning on
i had that problem. i would catch my edge of the lip and do a mad corked switch one and always land on my hip and hurt it. but now i can carve off the lip switch and not catch a edge now. so im good.
