yeah it can be hard but it depends on your relationship with the girl of course. if you really like her at least try it out! cant hurt. and obviously seeing each other pretty often helps, but dont even think about every weekend, you dont wanna be that kid

i trust her definatly, its other people i dont trust and i get jealous so easy, we;ll be going to school fairly close and i may even be going to community college so we will see each other alot.

yeah if you dont trust her 100% youre gonna have a shitty time worrying about it all the time. but if you dont trust her enough then you shouldnt stay with her at college anyway.. just try it out.. how long have you been dating?

Its possible, I did (gf of 2 years before i left for uni).

Its not fucking easy though i'll tel you that. If you're not into her 100%, get out now because you both have to want it to work if its going to. Distance and the environment are definately working against you.

I've seen it happen and work well but I've seen it fail miserably. One of my good friends had a girlfriend for 6 years and then they ended up failing first year of school, it was like everything that was true and good in my life was a lie.

Most of the guys I know in college in that situation just cheat on their girlfriends regularly or have a second girlfriend altogether~
Doesnt bode well I guess, but maybe she is less of a douche.

My girlfriend and I go to colleges 5 hours away from each other and we only see each other like once a month at most. Its really tough but for us its worth it. You need a lot of trust. A lot. If you guys are really into each other and you trust each other, then go for it.

I didn't even give it a chance, of course I really wasn't extremely into that girl at the time and she was off to Penn State. So I broke it off before she left. You better be mad in love.

It worked for me. My girlfriend and I dated for most of high school and we made it through the first year of school. It was way harder for her than for me. She was super jealous and for whatever reason didn't trust me. I don't drink either so its not like I'd even get wasted and accidentally cheat on her. We ended up breaking up the next year for some other stupid reason. I don't think it had anything to do with being away from eachother.

my gf goes to school about 2 hours away from my school, but our homes are like 20 min from each other so we usually see each on the weekends or on breaks. it sucks having to drive 2 hours but IMO its nice because you don't get bored of the person and you value every minute you get to spend together.

well its 100% nothing like a HS relationship if its actually real...its alot harder to want to settle down with someone when in college because of the large temptations, so you really have to care for her. i have one, and have been with her like, most of college. ive never been the monogomous type for more than like a few months, and i was always looking for something else. not so much anymore.

its harder, especially if you are in a frat and shes in a soroity. you have to repsect that she mandatorily has to go out to party with her sisters with another house full of horny drunk guys when they partner with them and do other things like serenades. you arent there to step in,you have to really trust her.

its worth it if you can tell this one is different. if you arent that committed, itll fail, alot easier too

i tried it out first semester and found it just wasnt worth it. if your girlfriend is the jealous type then id def end it because when your out partying and having fun you dont want to be spending your time texting and being on the phone. thats just my opinion though

Dude, dont. You will end up never wanting to drink or party or go out and your friends will start to get pissed. Also there will be hot girls everywhere and all your buddies will have crazy stories while you sit and torture yourself over some girl your probably going to break up with anyway.

unless youre married id say dont do it. i was in hs and she was in college like 25 minutes away and i got so fucking annoyed having to drive around all the time so i dropped that shit like a brick. also, I can only imagine you will find someone interesting, and if you do, you can be free to get with it, and then they live like 5 minutes away instead of 4 hours or something. If you try to keep it going, i'd say 80% chance of it falling apart within months.

me and my girlfriend go to school 6 hours away from each other. it isnt easy and it gets annoying sometimes but if you like each other go for it. and it seems to be working so far.

me and my girlfriend are going to different colleges next year.  i'm positive its gonna work cause we've been dating 6 months and nothing has gone wrong, its been awesome.  but what we're doing is going into an open relationship, pretty much random hookups are game, but really nothing else, which makes it a lot easier.  it eliminates the jealousy factor and just makes it easier so we don't gotta run around college all paranoid about cheating and stuff

not really. only thing allowed is no strings attached just random makeouts, but no sex. i mean i guess u can look at it like that but im a pretty jealous person when it comes to that, so claimin it helps both of us out a lot.

I did it for 1 and a half years in highschool with a certain girl who lives 3 hours from me. We go to the same college now but I know how it is to be in that situation...its all trust and love. Shes my favorite person to be around now...Im glad we stuck through all that hardship! To be honest its difficult to hold a relationship like that but it helps you cope with your relationship that much more and learn how to really appreciate your time with him or her.

dont do it if you dont see yourselves having a good time together for a while. it can definitely work if you like hte person enough. trust them, and keep it fresh. keept it really laidback, and make sure your girlfriend does not go crazy. keep her in check...and then you wont fail haha
make sure you can have fun with it, it is not for the faint of heart...

It really depends on how far away you guys are.  I go to school an hour away from my gf (she goes to community college).  We went out all of senior year of high school and we're just finishing up our second year of college and things are better than ever. We see each other pretty much every weekend.  We switch weeks, so I go home one weekend and she comes up the next.  If you think this is the one, then do it, otherwise it's stress for nothing. If anything, being away makes you both realize how much you really love each other. Give it a shot and see how you feel after a couple months.  You'll know if its gonna work or not.
