Ok, yes, I should have specified easily extractable oil. Canada also has shit loads of oil in the tar sands. I highly doubt we will see this extracted in our lifetime, as regardless of what that article say, it is still extremely costly and difficult to get at this oil. If it was as feasible as they make it out to be, we would surely already be extracting it.

Environmental groups fighting the drilling proposal say the amount of recoverable oil in the area is closer to 3.2 billion barrels or less.

Opponents argue that the amount of oil to be had would barely make a dent in meeting the needs of this oil-hungry country, which uses nearly 20 million barrels a day. The oil in ANWR, they say, amounts to a six-month supply or less for the United States' consumption, based on current usage."

My bad, it's six months, not six weeks, still not a very substantial amount. I highly doubt that the amount of extractable oil is anywhere near 16 billion barrels, since that report came from a bush appointee and during the first major battle to legalize drilling. Even if it was that much it's barely two years worth of oil if it all stays within the US, in which case it wouldn't do much to lower the price of any imported goods from outside of the country.

You really think it will get that bad? To the point were people can't pay their bills and are going homeless.

thanks to CBS and the NCAA streaming the tournament online, nothing is getting done at work, and the economy will continue to be down for the next couple weeks.

Depends how the future administration handles it, but theres always the possibility.
