I'm trying to get into photography and am planning on buying my first digital SLR camera. I'm looking at the Nikon D40x, the Canon Rebel XTi, and the Sony a300. Which of these do you guys recommend? Or is there any other camera less than $700 that I should look at? Which is best for shooting sequences? Any thoughts?
I've got a problem, I was just about to order The XTi and the Sigma 24-60, and when I went back to Amazon the Sigma was sold out from the store I wanted to buy it from. It was $220 which was fine with me, and now it is $300 and I don't want to send that uch for the lens. PLus, the Canon 18-55 IS is sold out pretty much everywhere and those were the two lenses that I was looking at. So my quastions now is if anyone can find either of these lenses in stock and for cheap or if you have other suggestions for me.
bhphotovideo.com has the xti w/ 18-55 lense for 589.95, its the silver body. The black one is a lil more w/ lense I think like 609. As for the Sigma lense, if that's the way you want to go, they have a 28-70 2.8 ex dg for 329. If you go for the 2.8-4 dg its 129. Sigma's website has the 24-60 but they are running around 570.
Yea I know, but I dont want to buy the kit. I've really only heard bad things about the kit lens, so I'd rather just spend a little more money now and get a lens that I like better.
I just got lucky and found it at my local Black"s Photography store. They are changing over everything right now so just go to every mall you can find and see if anyone is selling them off cheap. Worked for me.
alrite I'm bringing this thread back up becuase the guy that was gonna get me the Canon XTi screwed me over and now I'm not getting it. I've benn looking around a little more and finally decided on the the Nikon D60. What do you guys think about it? I would get it with the kit lens becuase its much better than the XTi kit lens and it has image stabilization. It also works on SD cards which is much better for me considering I have many of them at home already. I compared the specs on both of these cameras and they are very similar, but I like the menu layout of the Nikon better. I also feel that becuase it is a newer model, it may take better pictures. So what do you guys think? Should I stick with the XTi or go for the D60? Oh and it doesn't bother me that the D60 is more expensive.
