hey guys,
I've always wanted to buy a butterfly knife, you know those knifes with two handles that you open. I find it looks pretty cool , i dont really intend on killing people with it . But my question is this , the site I would be buying from is in the states, they say they can ship to canada, im wondering if its going to get to me without police officers knocking on my door since they are actually illegal.
I know its a bad idea to start with , but how much of a bad idea? am I playing russian roulette with a loaded gun here or are my chances of getting this novelty item good
anyone ever done something similar ??

well i would almost say that it would be easier to go down to us and buy one there
you could get screwed by shipping

Really not worth it. If anyone finds out about that thing the cops take that stuff seriously because those thing don't really have a legit use except for hurting people. Just try and find it in canada if you really want one, or the next time you go the states look around. Do you even know if the site is legit?

Worst that could happen is it gets confiscated and you never receive it.

It can depend. If the site says anything about it being illegal in Canada then I wouldn't buy it. If the site doesn't say anything about it then see how they ship it. If they ship with Fedex or UPS then you would have a better chance. The catch is that if it is illegal in Canada then it would be a bad idea to buy. One knife that you could look into getting because they aren't completely a butterfly is the Spyderco Spyderfly. The problem with those is that Spyderco discontinued these because of legal issues with it. So they are really hard to find.
