At 0:30, just after gagnier sw 10 at xgames, theres a shot of someone in a green suit spinning sw right 7, sw left 10, sw left 9 at Breck. How was this shot edited? The skier clearly is not hitting the jumps that quickly, yet the people standing to the side are not moving as you would expect if the shot were cut...I dont have much experience editing so I am uninformed. This is such a sick shot, anyone know how it is done?

wow, thats sooooo sickk. i believe its something to do with running the first clip, then cropping in the other 2? not sure

Fatman's edits are so dope.

Fatman and Tanaka deserve to be in it. If you go to Fatmanproductions.com there are 3 or 4 dope edits. so dope

i think he put 3 different clips together. or maybe it's just three different people jumping? naa...

He just had one continuous shot on the sides and layered in different shots in the middle where the skier hits the jumps. Most likely he just did that zoom pan shot with no one on the jumps, then did the same thing with a skier. I have no idea how he exactly did it, but its all after effects.

wow, fatman is making ski movies just as legit as hollywodds.
 
hopefully, it's gonna make it, so much better then everything aelse I've seen so far.

it's really simple actually he just cut out the parts that the guy was skiing inbetween the jumps. it's easy to do just film a clip form a tripod and cut out sections that the subject is out of veiw to speed up the overall length of the clip

if u wanna get specifics on how to do it...here

filmed with an hd cam probably, on a tripod, just chillin there.
got the shot of him jumping all three jumps, and some footage of people chillin on the side

made two comps in AE, one of the 'background' which is the people standing on the side, doesnt matter who is jumping
one comp with the guy jumping with the waiting in between cut out so its three jumps in a row



put mask on second shot so that just the jump and skier is shown and layer above the background comp

take this comps into another comp and zoom in slightly (not enuff for noticeable quality loss) and keyframe the x and y position of the comp from bottom right corner to top left, to get the slow pan...

or at least thats how id do it

yup, i'd do it by doing using a 8 or 16 point garbage matte in premiere and putting each shot on top of each other, then just adjust the matte on the top 2 layers to reveal what only what i want to on the layers below. pretty simple as long as it was a tripod shot.

i think he mightve doen that linear transition effect twice vertically and maybe once horizontally. im not sure but that was sick
