Resizing pics for icon

i posted in this forum cause noone posts in site discuss. i have iphoto on a mac. how do you resize an image so its smaller than 8kbs. also how do you change the dimensions? they have to be 50x50 pixels. thanks.

put it on paint and click options and resize it to 50x50. or just type ity in on google and some sites will come up
